I want to preface this review by saying that I bought this paint before I did enough research on spraying metallic colors and discovered that even the pros prefer a base/clear for any type of metal. … and I can. see why This is difficult! Spraying metallics is too heavy to come out, but heavy enough to get orange peel, especially for a new painter. I sprayed a few coats and then misted when the last coat was still wet to remove some of the streaking and it seemed to work pretty well. However, I have a lot of orange peel and since it is metallic SS, it is not recommended for wet sand and beige. In the future I may spray a clear coat over the SS and then gray what I can, but for now I’m very excited about the results since this is my first paint job.

This product is said to be a 4:1 mix ratio, but I started having problems with my compressor settings (admittedly too small) to keep the pressure high enough to get a good spray pattern – the gun tip was 1.4 , suspect. A larger tip would also have helped. I thinned the paint an additional 1 part (4:1:1) with 85 grade Nason solvent and it sprayed better and had no adverse effect on the paint.
