Best Sherwin Williams White Paint Colors
Benjamin Moore Swiss Coffee is a very popular white color. If you’ve seen this review, it’s probably because you’re looking at it for your home. And maybe this is the perfect white color for you! But I have never used it and never will. Read on to find out why!
If you’ve been around for long, you know I’m a big fan of white walls. The four most popular white colors for walls are:
Swiss coffee has gained a lot of popularity because it is used by design experts, including the famous and beloved designer Shea McGee of McGee Studio (and it looks amazing in the beautiful design below). He also used 75% of the power in his home. But Swiss coffee is the most popular type of white color. why? It all depends on everything.
Swiss coffee is considered hot white because it has a bit of yellow in its formula. For my personal taste, it reads a bit warmer and more beige than white. I mean, look at the image below from Benjamin Moore’s Swiss Coffee website. I think a lot of people think it’s more beige or white than white. The Swiss coffee appears white in the Studio McGee designed space upstairs due to the large amount of natural light coming in from the large windows! But few people have homes with such natural light. I think it could go well with white walls (I love off-white decorating ideas – that’s what we did in our current house).

If you’re looking for a white color, Benjamin Moore’s Swiss Coffee might work well for you. It is part of the “Off-White Color Collection. Sophisticated in nature and infinitely versatile, the Off-White Collection offers a subtle tone of white for quiet, calm environments, as well as enhancing accents color for vibrant spaces.”
If you’ve read any of my color reviews, you know that there are parts of the base color that you don’t really “see”. I’ll talk more about the undertones in this detailed post on how to choose paint colors for your home. It is very important to pay attention to the bottom of the color scheme you are considering!
If you’ve ever wondered, “Is Switzerland hot or cold enough?” You understand the background. OC-45 Swiss coffee is definitely yellow in color and has a warm tone as mentioned above.
But more importantly, Benjamin Moore’s Swiss coffee has a slight green tint, which means it can appear green in some light. Between the warmth of the color and the green tone, Swiss coffee is one of my most popular white wall colors, and one that I personally don’t use. You can see the greens in the kitchen below (at least I can).

As with most surfaces, grays don’t really show up when looking at paint chips. But did you know that store-bought paint chips aren’t actually made of paint, so they’re not accurate? So it is very important to test paint colors using real paint on your real home (ie, get paint samples). This is one of the best tips I have on how to choose paint colors for your home.
It says on the Benjamin Moore website that “understandable colors” are all beige and green. This is why Swiss coffee is slightly green in colour. So it works well with local colors. If you want to decorate with solid colors like blues and grays, I wouldn’t recommend it.
You can see that the Swiss coffee maker works beautifully with the earth tones in the living room. You will also notice that it looks less yellow in her living room because it drowns out all the natural light – it looks more yellow in a room with less natural light.
Yes! Benjamin Moore Swiss Coffee could be a great choice for you, especially if you love green colors and use them a lot in your home decor. If you see colors similar to those above and they reflect the colors you like to use in your home, then Swiss coffee might be for you. If you’re looking for a white color, Benjamin Moore’s Swiss Coffee is your best option. But if you’re looking for off-white or off-white, you should look.
Paint Color Palette _ Staging / Selling Your Home _ Sherwin Williams
Many sites incorrectly state that Swiss Coffee’s LRV is closer to 84, but Benjamin Moore’s Swiss Coffee LRV is 81.91.
LRV, or Light Reflectance Value, measures the percentage of light reflected from a surface. LRVs are 0-100, with 100 being pure white and 0 being pure black. Therefore, the LRV of Swiss coffee is quite high, but it is lower than its popular counterparts (Sherwin-Williams Pure White, Sherwin-Williams Alabaster and Benjamin MooreWhite Dove).
The biggest difference between these two colors is that Swiss coffee has a yellow undertone, so it looks warmer on the wall than alabaster. Alabaster has an almost identical LRV of 82. If you want a creamy, warm white, I would have to recommend Alabaster over Swiss Coffee because Alabaster does not have the green color of Swiss Coffee.
Again, Swiss coffee has more yellow color than Sharon-Williams Pure White. Alabaster is warmer than pure white, and Swiss coffee is warmer than alabaster. This means that of the 3 whites, Swiss coffee has the warmest / yellowest appearance. Pure White also has a slightly higher LRV of 84. Pure-White is a very versatile white for walls because it has no bright colors, so it looks beautiful in almost any lighting condition. Pure white is my white wall color and the one I recommend the most to people who ask me for advice!

Swiss coffee is creamier and hotter than white coffee. White Dove is slightly lighter with an LRV of 83.16, compared to Swiss Coffee’s LRV of 81.91. If you are looking for a white color, Benjamin Moore Switzerland is the best choice. But if you want walls that read true white, then dove white would be a better choice.
