They hate painted brick and are looking to find a wall paint color that will make the brick fireplace look updated!

The first thing I will say about these color suggestions is that they are only “guide colors”.

. There are so many colors of bricks that it would be impossible to cover every one. I am a personal hero, but I am not very good.

If you like brick and want it to live, you can do it by matching. Remember, many warm colors do not like to cooperate with colors that are cooler and lighter than them, so be careful. Often it is better to compare it with cold colors that have some depth (they overlap and complement each other).

In this next photo, although the green tone in the paint contrasts with the pink tone of the brick, because it’s lighter, the contrast doesn’t work well – it needs more depth (like Sherwin Williams Grizzle Gray).

In this next photo, the yellow tones of the walls contrast with the red-purple color in the brick POP. However, in the image on the right, the acoustic gray heat reduces the appearance of the brick and increases its path…

Are you feeling bold and want a color with a little more depth to match your brickwork? Dovetail is a warm mid-tone gray. It can be a subtle addition to your brick as it doesn’t have too much color but still draws out the warm grays found in this type of brick. You can think of Dovetail as an “accent wall” color and pair it with a lighter neutral color or use it all over your walls.

If you have a surface you don’t like (like a red brick fireplace), the key is not to contrast it. A low-contrast approach means your brick won’t look more red, orange or pink than it already is, and you’ll need to avoid cool colors for that. Cold colus (will vary inversely with the temperature of the brick and therefore improve the temperature of the brick.

Ballet White is a warm neutral brown for a brick fireplace. This is a cream that is basically diluted with a tan / gray base, reducing the amount of yellow that may be present. Just be careful, because it will definitely not go well with brown-pink bricks.

For brick fires with lots of brown, it’s best to avoid greens and blues (and those tones) because their coolness contrasts with the warmth of the brown bricks, making them POP in comparison.
