We live on the border of North and South Carolina, so this color always reminds us of home. (It would also work perfectly as a “grove blue” canopy.)
This blue-gray color is vibrant enough without being overbearing, and it creates a sense of calm (which sometimes needs a jumble of toys in the playroom).
Because blue-grey has a calming and relaxing effect, they are a popular choice for bedrooms and bathrooms. While suitable for many design aesthetics, they are particularly suited to coastal interiors.

It’s difficult to get the blue-grey color right and I recommend testing swatches using this color selection method as the different lighting in each room can change the way the color is perceived.

What might look gray on a paint swatch might look like a light nursery blue on the wall. So it’s important to paint some color swatches on white cardstock and place them in the room you want to paint so that the color can be seen in different lighting conditions throughout the day make a decision. Colors that go well with blue-grey are pure whites, creams, earthy greens, grays, mustard yellows, and warm browns. It is best to combine blue-gray with a touch of warmer tones so that the room does not look sterile and uninviting. Adding warm brown furniture or off-white fabrics along with blue-grey colors can help balance the space.
In color psychology, gray stands for balance and blue for calm. It is often associated with peace and stability, making it a popular choice in settings designed for relaxation and regeneration, such as the bedroom or bathroom (even a spa).

Our Favorite Blue Paints
However, during the day it still feels hot. So what I want to do is cool down.
You may remember that I posted a post about blues in early April. I didn’t show a room but we heard a cool blue noise. Because they are dark blue.
Today I added some darker shades of blue, more for balance and blue tones. The rest of these blues are medium to medium dark.
Most gravitate towards the warm side of blue. Shades of blue that tend towards the warm side are referred to as cerulean, teal, turquoise, and aqua. But you might already know that.
Benjamin Moore Cloudy Sky, A Blue Gray Paint Color
Indigo is a blue approaching purple. And it’s not that I don’t like Indigo. I do that when I have enough gray. But I still prefer warmer shades of blue.
I actually learned that in design school. This means that the color that depends on the wall can be changed to another. And that’s especially true when the sun beats down on it. The color can become cloudy, green or even red.
Some of these blue ink colors are quite saturated. And let’s discuss how to work with these colors. Because as you will see, rich blue can be a great background for furniture and artwork.

Fresh Blue Green Paint Colors For Interior Wall

A loyal and dear reader, known on social media as “Pinkie Crabtree,” painted her room this color and loved it. So a year ago I made a spreadsheet of the pictures she posted.
Silent Blue is essentially turquoise blue. Please note that the color displayed on the picture is close to the actual color. But in some cases I don’t know what color it is.

This is one of the more saturated colors in the Laurel Home collection. I try to offer something for everyone. However, as you can see in the picture above, it’s a really cool color. I don’t know if that color is Wilmington spruce, but it looks like it. And that’s what’s important to me.
Sheila Bridges Iconic Living Room – The color is actually Farrow and Ball Blue Oval Room – However it is a clone (or very similar) of Benjamin Moore Jamestown Blue hc-148.
Light Blue Wall Colors Don’t Make This Mistake!
Before proceeding. I know some of you have a passion for it and I respect that. However, please refrain from talking about how Farrow and Ball’s pictures are better…
Nobody argues with you. F&B has a great colour, with a different style than Benjamin Moore. Can the average person tell the difference? Maybe not. Maybe sideways, but even then I’m not sure. If you can, great!
I have used paintings by Benjamin Moore throughout my career. You make a fantastic product. But if you can afford F&B and want to use it, then of course do it.
One of the reasons I use this twin image is that sometimes I can’t get the right image for Benjamin Moore’s color. But the pictures of Farrow and Ball in general are more interesting to me.
