I love being outdoors and in an open room with lots of light. I would stay away from small, dark places.

In response to my last post, completely renovating our forest home, several readers emailed, texted me, or commented on the paint colors we used on that home. Although we mainly used white in the house, we also used some gray and blue accents in most of the rooms.

Before I moved in and started painting, I drew up most of the house’s color scheme and taped my paint chips to paper and kept them safely in my office cupboard for easy access when I needed to reference them to them. when you pass the house. This warm light gray kept things calm and quiet, adding dimension to these spaces that could have been a little cold if they had been painted pure white.

I also get several letters from readers asking about the color of kitchen cabinets. It’s actually called “Grimslov Grey” and it’s from Ikea (although it might be a discontinued door color in some places). I matched Benjamin Moore’s local color to “Fusion”. It is a warm shade of medium gray that creates a comfortable and sophisticated feel in our kitchen. Although I love white kitchens, I also love the dimension that using this gray adds.

Another favorite question from a reader is what color we used on the accent wall in our youngest son’s room. It’s Benjamin Moore’s Hale Navy – a color I also used in our previous lake house bathroom. Hale Navy is one of my favorite Benjamin Moore colors of all time. It is strong and effective, but not harsh. When paired with white walls, as we did here, it feels cool and fresh.
