Popular Colors For Living Room Walls – On average, a person spends 4.4 hours a day in a living room, or about 1,606 hours a year. Since the living area is an integral part of home life, it is understandable that we want the best color for it. The question is which one?

A survey by home improvement website Fixr revealed the seven most popular living room colors of the year, according to more than 60 interior design experts. In their report on colors and color trends for 2022, they said:

“The year is 2022. In 2018, we found the perfect warmer tone for every room in the house. While neutrals are still strong, greenery and natural hues and patterns dominate interior design this year. It appears that homeowners are ready to embrace a more dynamic and organic palette indoors to breathe and create a sense of calm and freshness.”

Colors Of The Year Predictions

53 percent of experts surveyed believe that sage green is the most popular color in 2022, not only for living rooms, but also for other parts of the home. “It’s a warm and inviting color that can be energizing or relaxing depending on how you emphasize it,” the site says, adding that it pairs well with a variety of living room styles, furniture and other colors.

A great color for narrow, dark living rooms. As a neutral shade, cool white can increase available natural light and make any room appear larger than it is. In addition, its distinct tone goes well with other colors or patterns. No wonder 48 percent of experts support him.

Similar to cool off-white, cream is a neutral color that can add warmth and space. It is best suited for formal living rooms and more family spaces. And while it might be more intimidating to use than a cool off-white, the website says it’s easy to mix it with other warm colors like green, brown, tan and yellow.

Another neutral color, but not as strong as the two colors above, which makes gray-grey the right choice for living rooms that already have natural light so as not to overwhelm them. It is best combined with blue, green and gray tones. Fixr adds: “If you want to bring a lot of color to your living room, but want a soft, cool and neutral background, brown is a good choice.”

Khaki green may not be as popular as sage, with only 13 percent approval from experts, but it still ranks in the top five thanks to the general trend that green is the color of choice in 2022. This shade is darker and dirtier than sage, so it will look great in large, light-filled living rooms and as a backdrop for furniture with natural wood tones.

According to Fixr, navy blue is a deep navy blue color that comes in different shades depending on the brand. True navy, however, has an almost gray undertone, a cool shade that looks good with bright white and cream trims and lots of accent colors. The site advises: “Soft greens, grays or purples for a sophisticated design, or pair it with bright reds and yellows for a more dramatic look in the living room.”

And finally, terra cotta is preferred by 10 percent of experts. Combining reds, oranges and browns, terracotta adds warmth and boldness to living rooms with a natural feel. Fixr recommends using it with a cream finish, and it works best with Tuscan and Southwestern styles. The choice of paint color for the living room is very important. When choosing the most suitable color for your living room, you must remember that this is a room where you will receive guests, come back after work to relax, and perhaps spend a lot of time in your living room. Of course, you are looking for a color scheme that attracts attention, but at the same time is soothing. Perhaps that’s why more than one homeowner was shocked to see which shade was the best living room wall color in 2021.
