According to Merriam-Webster, gray is a variable color that mixes gray and beige. Gray is popular for its neutrality and ability to appear cool gray in some lighting and warm gray in others. In general, gray colors have warm undertones.

BM Pale Oak is the lightest color included in this list with an LRV of around 70. It is a popular light warm greige that can appear white if you have enough natural light. If youare looking for a more light gray color, check out BM Classic Grey.

BM Balboa Mist is a collection of pure white color. It is a versatile color that contrasts well with the white trim. Depending on the lighting, this light gray can have a pink or purple tint.

According to Benjamin Moore, Edgecombe Gray is an earthy, organic neutral. When comparing colors side-by-side, Edgecombe SW is slightly warmer and lighter than Pleasant Gray and can read beige and gray depending on the lighting.

SW Pleasant Gray is a very popular color choice and is part of the Pottery Barn Fall/Winter 2020 collection. It’s a subtle, neutral grid that usually feels warm, but can look cool depending on the wall and the room. Check out the examples below to see how the same color looks in different rooms.

Paint Colour Review: Versatile Gray & Perfect Greige Sherwin Williams

SW Alpaca is a cool grizzly. It has a slight taupe purple undertone and can appear gray in some rooms. Although still light in colour, it is darker than Pleasant Gray and Edgecombe Grey.

BM Revere Pewter is a popular classic, versatile color. It has a touch of green undertones. If youare looking for a similar color from Sherwin-Williams, check out Colonnade Gray.

Colonnade gray is another good classic gray choice. The color is dark enough to contrast well with the white trim, and with an LRV of 53 it’s a good light-medium choice. Like Revere Pewter, Colonnade Gray can have a slight green tint.

SW Mindful Gray is the darkest of the eight shown here, and is a good neutral medium gray option. Depending on the lighting, it can appear a little blue-green. If you want a darker gray, check out SW Dorian Gray.

Benjamin Moore, Sherwin-Williams and Farrow and Ball for colors. It’s a fun way to test paint colors, and the material is flexible so you can twist it around the corner. I have ordered from samples for clients in the past, and we have

This article is written to help you narrow down the right color choice for your home. Grays have a variety of undertones, and although very neutral, they will reflect the colors in the room and lighting. I hope this article helps you find the perfect gray for your home! I love gray walls as much as the next girl, but sometimes you just want a true gray. Not brown, not greenish, not purple. Just a nice, soft one

. Finding a color that is 100% pure gray can actually be a little harder (some below also have a different shade hint for them that I’ll explain), but it’s pretty close.

You may recognize that living room! This is actually from our first house (Brooklyn House) right before we moved into renters. Of the paint colors I’ll go over in this post, I’d say SW Lettuce is the purest gray I’ve ever seen. In fact, after seeing it in our house, my brother used this color in his own house. Brian’s boss asked us for a recommendation for a gray paint color and ended up with a choice salad (and love it). I really recommend this gray paint color in any space. It’s light enough to work extremely well in a room without a ton of light (like a basement), but also looks great in natural light (like our living room here). Grid is a great neutral background and looks great with bright accents or more natural decor. It is versatile; You really can’t go wrong with this color.

Garret Gray Sw 6075

Mindful Gray is another favorite of mine. It looks really dark compared to the other gray paint colors in the graphic above, but I promise it’s not super heavy or dark. I’ve used it many times: on the vanity in my parents’ powder room and also the coffee bar on our little sewing table that now lives in our pantry. I also plan to paint our brick chimney stack in the master bedroom this color soon! Mindful Gray first came into my life when I saw it used in an episode of Fixer Upper. This is one of those colors where you really have to do a double take to figure out what color it is. It can have this beautiful chameleon-like effect under different lighting. To me it has a slight green tint. But, I would never look at it and think “green”. I would still classify it as grey. I think SW Mindful Gray looks good with a room with a lot of trim. Jamie from Mindfully Gray (I think her blog could actually be named after this color!) used it beautifully in her dining room, kitchen and living room. Look how beautiful it is with the colors of the wood!

Love the tone of Mindful Grey, but want something a little lighter? Well they are, friend, check out SW Repose Grey. This color is the next color on the swatch strip (same tone, just a shade lighter). As you can see in this cute girls room it is a great neutral gray color and goes perfectly with blue and pink. I would recommend grays like this to friends, family and clients who have just moved into a new place and are painting the whole house, but aren’t sure what each room will be used for. That way, if they have a baby in the near future, they can easily add colors to personalize the baby’s new room. We used this color in one of our flip houses (see photos of it in the living room and dining room) and it looks fantastic with the dark wood trim.

I may or may not have chosen this paint color to include in this post, mainly because I really like the name. I’m just kidding. Kind of. The SW front porch is the lighter cousin of the lettuce (and the darker cousin of the silverpoint which I’ll get to below) and is a great gray. There is a slight hint of a blue/purple undertone, but I would still call this beautiful color 100% true gray paint. Again, the front porch also goes well with the white trim. I could not find a ton of photos of rooms with this paint (maybe they are new for the Sherwin Williams paint line?) and while the photo above is a little dark, you can still see how great the paint color looks with dark floors and accents… I haven’t tried this before in any of my projects, but it’s definitely going in the painting language library!

I originally found this paint color from an Instagram post from the Newly Woodwards blog. She posted the photo above and I immediately took a screenshot so I could reference that color. I find this gray paint color very soothing and calming. I can just imagine waking up with this color in the morning light. In the swatch it looks like there’s a slight hint of purple, but in the room photo you don’t see any of it – just a clean, pure grey. I was actually waiting for someone to request a gray paint color so I could pull this monster out. Maybe this
