Purple Gray Paint Benjamin Moore
When John and Melissa bought a house in Pennsylvania, they wanted to create a place that would grow and grow with them and their family. Therefore, it is very important to choose the right wall color: they want something bold, timeless and flexible. Additionally, their color choices should be versatile enough to accommodate future additions to their home—perhaps a new sofa or more wall art. The winning shade is purple and the source of this shade is amazing!
Perfect Purple Paint Shades
In the end, Devin Starlight was the best choice for his house. So what is it about this particular color purple that makes it so popular around the house? Although it’s technically purple, we’re not talking about Barney the Dinosaur. And it’s not the kind of shade you’ll find on Barbie packaging. (Both colors are great for their intended purpose, but not always great when you’re aiming for a modern living room wall color.)
This trendy purple shade is admired for its ability to walk the line between “bold color” and “beautiful neutral”. It’s just dark enough to feel like the house is covered in fun colors, but just enough gray to act as a neutral. The simplicity of this shade lends versatility to other neutral paint colors like gray, black and khaki (just with an extra punch).
You can see evidence of the versatility of this color in the way it interacts with other colors and materials in the room. Natural textures such as wooden shelves and green potted plants complement the walls of the living room. Red accessories create an exciting energy when paired with a purple wall paint color. White lines contrast with dramatic walls, as shown below with wall shelves and trim. Many colors fit with Divine Starlight; That’s for sure in this house!

. why? Well, purple has a bad rap for being too feminine, too sophisticated, too staid, or too barney – and if you look at the history of purple, it makes sense!
However, today’s purple is very different from the Barney-inspired colors of the past, and is truly the most beautiful purple on the market!

, so even though it will appear purple, it is protected by a neutral deposit. It’s on the cooler end and has a dark lavender look without being too pigmented.
A cloud of sleep will remain well in the south-facing room. It can also be used in the north-facing room, but be aware that it will look very cold.
The Dreamy Cloud’s LRV is 76, meaning it will reflect slightly less light back into the room. In a brightly lit room with direct sunlight, it will darken a bit, but will regain its color when the sun changes.
Not for the faint of heart! Like Dreamy Cloud, which is more subtle, French Lilac is committed to purple without being gaudy or “day-glo”.
Designers Share Their Favorite Nonneutral Paint Colors
French Lilac is a bit warmer and a bit more colorful than Dreamy Cloud. It sits at the end of the light thing, but closer to the inner medium of light.
French lilac is LRV 56, which surprised me because it looks a bit brighter than that. With this LRV, it will not show too much light into the room, but it will not absorb too much either.
Abalone is my favorite light purple color because it’s subtle. Compared to the colors above it will look like gray and it is gray – gray with purple brown tones. This is a great way to go purple without 100% (or 50% – that’s just a violation).

Are We Done With Gray? We Explore + A
The wet concrete sits slightly more towards the warm pink end than the cool purple which leans towards the cool blue end. It is also a light “earthy” purple with a neutral base and not as pigmented as one
Wet concrete has an LRV of 27.0, meaning it will absorb light, instead of reflecting it back into the room. It can help a room feel warm, cozy and inviting or feel too heavy if you don’t have enough natural or artificial light.
Sandlot is not the gray color you would normally think of as purple as it has a nice brown/grey undertone – it gives a more neutral look. However, it definitely falls into the purple spectrum with its warm purple base. A warm purple can almost take on a pink tip look. This color won’t look pink, but you’ll notice that it looks softer and warmer than cool purples that have less brown undertones. Overall, Sandlot Gray is a great way to go purple – without the punch!
