Ranch Home Additions Before And After

Ranch Home Additions Before And After – Welcome to CC and Mike’s modern navy and cedar ranch style makeover reveal! Wow, what a mouthful – ha! :).

When my friend from college called and told us she had a ranch-style house in downtown Jenks that she thought we should check out, we got in the truck and headed in that direction. As we pulled into a large clearing, a ranch-style house loomed, and I knew I wanted it. Mike Miller’s idea was even more convincing when he saw the peach walls, floral wallpaper (which I might add covers the ceiling), and an enclosed kitchen with dark cabinets and ceiling. Oh yeah, the house was 2 bedrooms 1 bathroom and Mike thought it would be a hard sell.

Ranch Home Additions Before And After

As we walked through the house, my friend explained to us that the original owner had sold it after his daughter died. The same man built and owned the house for more than half a century. She raised her family and made thousands of memories within these walls. When we left we decided to buy it and renovate it. But what I didn’t know at the time was that in the process of renovating the house, we would meet Dorothy, the lovely 90-year-old neighbor who was best friends with the original owner, and we would completely fall in love with her story. of this house. We remember Dorothy sitting on the back porch drinking coffee and hanging out with her friends around the kitchen table. After meeting Dorothy, we truly fell in love with the house and community and are proud to be a part of this history…

How A Deep Front Porch Brought Life To A Plain Ranch’s Exterior

You see, I realize that every family has a story. What an honor. Part of this history, understanding the memories left in the walls, and preparing it for their new family, the sweet newlyweds eventually purchased the house and created a life filled with memories.

Come in! Welcome to CC and Mike’s modern navy and cedar ranch style remodel.

On this beautiful ranch style home originally built in the 1950’s. I don’t want to do this

If you know what I mean. Don’t get me wrong. I like white. My whole house is painted white.

But the beauty of this house is that, because of the dimensions of its exterior, I feel like it’s perfectly capable of something a little more dramatic and mortal. I knew I wanted a dark blue on the exterior and paired it with cedar shutters and accents. I absolutely love how it turned out.

At the beginning of the project, HGTV came to the location to film the pilot episode. Mike and I got into the excitement of Demo Day as the camera crew cheered us on! Unfortunately, they decided not to continue filming and we had an entire wall knocked down! We sat on the house for a year before Mike finally asked me to design it. This is a blessing in disguise, otherwise we wouldn’t be tearing down this wall. It looks great and opens up the house completely. Thank you HGTV!

Here are the dramatic how-tos and how-tos on how we transformed this kitchen from a dark, closed-in kitchen with ceiling tiles and dated wallpaper, to a beautiful, open-concept kitchen with a large island, open style shelving and lots of stuff. Wow!

Reasons To Consider A Second Story Addition

The flip house kitchen was the perfect opportunity for me to have some fun and do some design work that I knew Mike probably wouldn’t do in our personal home – in other words, black cabinets with warm wood tones mix. It’s no secret that I love black and white design, you’ll often hear me say, “You know what never goes out of style? Black and white.” I also wanted to incorporate some open shelves and sconces, a sliding pantry The door is a nice, bold punch!

Wood flooring was provided by Mill Creek Carpet and Tile. They provided all flooring and tile for this project and we absolutely loved working with them. They were very helpful during the selection process and their customer service during the installation process was incredible. If you are local to Tulsa or Oklahoma City I recommend Mill Creek you can even come in and tell them you want to see CC and Mike’s favorites and they have compiled items that have been used in our flip houses Board! The floors we chose were Bella Cera Monza Collection and French Oak Bivio.

If you’re not in Tulsa, you can purchase the flooring we used on the Flip House project here:

Vent Hood: We created this vent hood look by using the same wood flooring on the vent hood as throughout the house. We had our decorative carpenters cut the Bella Cerra engineered wood flooring to fit the dimensions of the hood and then attach it to the front and sides of the hood. This was actually Mike Miller’s idea and I absolutely love how it turned out!

When I saw these photos I couldn’t believe it was the same room! Excluding the brickwork that was once the original exterior of the wall was no easy task. Convincing Mac Miller to do it wasn’t an easy task either – ha! But I definitely think it was the right decision. Especially when you see this from the front and back, the brick wall completely separates the kitchen from the living room.

All lighting within the clamshell is provided by HUDSON VALLEY LIGHTING. We absolutely love working with them and use HVL in all of our products. CC AND MIKE THE SHOP are also proud to offer Hudson Valley lighting in our stores, here are some of our favorites:

We love these gray canvas bar stools from CC and MIKE THE SHOP. They are also made of leather and are gorgeous. We are using both bar stools in some upcoming projects and not only do we love them, our clients love them too!

APRICOT MIST SKY Kitchen Runner – We love this runner and the beautiful colors and patterns. It makes a statement wherever it goes and we love how it looks in the Flip House kitchen!

Below you can see the house’s original laundry room. One of the most important things we did in our kitchen remodel was tear down the garage and build a new laundry room, making the original laundry room part of the new kitchen. We turned it into a bar area with open shelving in front of the window and it makes the kitchen bigger and more functional!

The original pantry door was small and had lots of hidden space in the corners. But it’s inaccessible and the design is awkward. I knew we wanted the wall to express the design concept. We came up with the idea of sliding barn doors to achieve this. Mike is more about function and I am definitely a fashion person, so this pantry now has the best of both worlds. The large kitchen is completely accessible and one of my favorite features of the house.

We were delighted to work with MILL CREEK Carpet and Tile for our kitchen flooring and backsplash. One of the most beautiful elements throughout the house is the Bella Cera engineered wood flooring we installed throughout the house. Mill Creek keeps a selection of all our favorite designs, so just ask CC and Mike Special and they’ll have you covered!

Now for the tiles – we used two different tiles, both available at our local Mill Creek Tile in Tulsa. If you’re not local to Tulsa, I have black and white checkered and black and white geometric line tiles for you to use:

I did this before and after I spoke for my life. I should mention that I think the fireplace is one of my favorite touches in the room!
