Shane told Arc that he chose a neural network algorithm called char-rnn that predicts the next character in a sequence. So the algorithm essentially works on two tasks, generating a string of letters to create a color name and generating a string of numbers that defines the RGB value. As he studied the algorithm’s progress, he found that it could take a long time to generate colors before he could pronounce them correctly.

The longer the database is processed, the closer the algorithm gets to generating the correct color names, although they are still alive. “Sore Gray” is a form of green and “Sane Green” is blue. When Shane covered “creativity” in the production algorithm, he gave it a purple color called “Dondarf” and a green kelly called “Bylfgoam Glosd”. After a few more iterations of this process, Shane was able to come up with an algorithm to identify some colors like red and gray, “although not reliably” because he also got a blue called “Gray Pubic” and a dark green. “Muted Brown”.
