Sherwin Williams Exterior White Trim Paint – I shared a few stories on Instagram the other day in and out of our house! One of the most frequently asked questions was the color of the paint. I didn’t do a lot of research in regards to our paint choices. Luckily it was painted in a model house and when I saw it I fell in love. He is a true saint. Like white white white. There are absolutely no yellows, blues or greens. She is pure white.
This is Sherwin Williams Pure White (7005). After choosing this color for our interior, knowing we wanted a farmhouse exterior, I was happy to hear that this was the color our builder recommended for the exterior. He also used Sherwin Williams Tricorn Black on the garage doors and front doors. I really like the black one too. We’re thinking of using some black ship in our house, so keep an eye out for that! Studio McGee also recommends Tricorn Black and I love the look of it.
Sherwin Williams Exterior White Trim Paint
These photos were taken at sunset, so the part has an orange color near the board and is beat. It’s so clean! Sherwin Williams Pure White contains less dye. The color information is R – 237, G – 236 and B – 230. The hex value is #edece6 and the LRV is 84. The white color can absorb the surrounding colors, which is amazing! This way it can almost change with your decorations.
The Best White Modern Farmhouse Exterior Paint Colors
What is an LRV you may ask? LRV stands for Light Reflectance Value, which measures the amount of visible and usable light that is reflected from the paint surface. The scale ranges from 0 to 100, where black is at 0 and white is purest at 100 (showing ALL light).
LRV helps with color selection and knows how light or dark it will look. Again Pure White is 84 which is very high.
We also painted our interior pure white as well as our trim and doors. Since we used a different gloss, this worked well. This is the best type of interior paint if you want pure white. Pure White is also great for trim, cabinetry and shiplap.
Another white we love and use in our old house is Sherwin Williams Snowbound. It’s a beautiful, bright white color. We used it here in Madison’s old bedroom as a backdrop for the flower walls. I love the tree on our front porch and can’t wait to decorate it for fall and the holidays!

And I can’t believe we almost walked away with a white door. Pop black is a must in our white house! This is the perfect kind of doormat. I’ve also seen it on cabinets and it looks great too.
Along the way, we want to add blinds and windows to our home. Let’s paint the three black again. I think it needs some extra goodies!

For a minimalist yet classic look, go for piping in the same color as your front and bottoms in a similar color.
Exterior Color Inspiration
You can paint the garage white or black. I like to paint black when the house is simple. Otherwise, it might be too much.
We love black windows with a white house, but not everyone has that option. Most of the houses we see have white vinyl windows that cannot be painted.
If the windows are white vinyl, we usually paint the windows the same color as the trim. The color of the white parts can be warmer or darker than vinyl windows. In the sun, no one will notice and it looks good.
If you have black windows and your window is large, don’t paint it black. A black line with black windows looks very rich. Instead, find a window trim that is the same size as the sides.
Popular Sherwin Williams Exterior Paint Colors Giving Peace Of Mind
Think dark cabinets with white windows with white body colors and houses with simple architecture. See the picture below. It’s over, but I took a picture of it because I liked it.
In general, we do not recommend dark frames with white vinyl windows. Of course, there are exceptions, such as complex Victorian plots or when the body of the house is white and the area is not too large. White windows will be associated with the white body color. Check out the house below. This was a driving photo (not one of our products) but I love it!
There are many types of paints that are very interesting. These are some of our favorites, if your favorite isn’t on the list it doesn’t mean it’s bad just because we didn’t include it. These clean LRVs are between 72 and 85.
This white color is the brightest of our favorites and the lightest of our outdoor picks. This beautiful home has a modern farmhouse exterior with a white paint color. Don’t confuse this with Benjamin Moore Pure White which is a cool and very different color!
Sw White Duck Exterior With Tricorn Black Trim
Use Sherwin-Williams Pure White (LRV = 82) if you have a bright white, such as the white vinyl fence in the photo, a north face, or in many shades.
Avoid this type outdoors in hot southern or mountainous areas. You may need glasses just to see. Also create areas with very static colors and textures. It will look weird.
Another word to the wise: this bright white is like glass. Avoid if your neighbor has a red or yellow house. Otherwise, your house will look pink or yellow next to the neighbor.
Since the windows are white vinyl and well made, we kept the windows white and used a black color scheme. The legs and bottom were painted black for a local look. We kept the garage doors clear so the dark voices wouldn’t be heard. Finally, the front porch ceiling was painted bright southern farmhouse blue!
Dovetail Sw 7018 For Exterior Siding Paint
The color scheme is below. You can’t see the blue front roof “haint” in this photo, but it’s there. The garage doors are white, but have black numbers, hardware and lighting. The balance between white and black is perfect.
Sherwin-Williams Alabaster (LRV = 82) is celebrated on the Internet as a great white exterior paint. I really disagree; it is a special tool like any other kind. Create a sample using Sampleize here.
Alabaster looks beautiful in the shade and in the northern regions. It has a lot of yellow in it, so it can flash yellow in strong sunlight. I saw this happen the day before I wrote this race discussion article.
Just like Pure White, it’s a bright white like glass. Don’t use it if your neighbor has a red or yellow house, or your white house will look pink or yellow from your neighbor’s side.
The Best White Exterior Paint Colors
Below is our greenhouse located in the shadiest area of Atlanta. They plan to replace their roof with a gray one in the middle, but it still looks great! The black color is Black Magic (SW 6991).
