As you know, we are under construction and are currently trying to decide on a general color scheme for the exterior. It’s a very difficult decision, but one we need to get right. Since most of the house is brick white, it all depends on the shade of white we choose!
Despite its name, Sherwin Williams Pure White isn’t actually pure. It has just a hint of warmth, but it doesn’t look creamy. This is probably the brightest white color I use on the exterior of the house.
Oyster White by Sherwin Williams is a very warm white. You can call it a very light greige. If you plan to accent the wood in your exterior, this will complement it well.
Like Pure White, don’t let the name fool you. Benjamin Moore Simply White is a warm white. It has a pale yellow color and is Benjamin Moore’s Color of the Year 2016.

Update: We used Sherwin Williams White Duck on the exterior of our house and couldn’t be happier with our choice! In the sun, it’s very smooth and not too creamy. However, on cloudy or rainy days, the cream of the color will come out. Below is a picture of the exterior of our house.

We loved having Benjamin Moore Classic Gray on our porch and stairs because it’s a chameleon neutral that feels light and airy, a little gray or a little brown depending on the light.

Closer to gray than white, Sherwin Williams Oyster White leans a bit toward cooler tones, but it’s a chameleon color that can be warm at different times of the day in dark rooms.
Coming closer to the yellow family, Sherwin Williams white flour can create a sense of comfort. Yellow can especially stand out when paired with more blue/brown colors, so use it wisely with other colors in the room.

Sherwin Williams Alabaster is my favorite white to use in interiors because it is a very neutral white and recommended for slightly warmer tones. Not too yellow, not too creamy…okay. It’s bright white with an LRV (light reflectance value) of 82, so it’ll definitely light up the space. Can’t recommend it enough for bringing light indoors into the space, but keep in mind that it’s a very bright white where there’s already plenty of light outside.
