Sherwin Williams Repose Gray Sw7015 – Matt is a professional painter who owns and operates his own painting business specializing in interior and exterior painting.

I painted the stairs and hallway with Sherwin Williams Repose Gray. In a room with strong light, the color is gray.

Repose Gray (SW-7015) is a popular Sherwin Williams color that I have used several times in my interior painting projects. I painted everything from the stairs to the kitchen to living rooms and bedrooms with this color. Repose Gray is a warmer gray with a hint of blue and a very small hint of purple – but don’t worry, the paint won’t turn the walls purple.

The 3 Best Gray Paint Colours

Light Reflectance Value (LRV) refers to the amount of light reflected by a paint. The higher the number, the better the color will be visible. With a slightly higher LRV of 58, Repose Gray looks lighter and grayer in a bright room, especially if a satin finish is used to reflect more light. In darker rooms and in rooms with shadowy corners, the color appears blue. My customer said he once thought the color was a bit green. I don’t see any green in this color at all, but it should have a hint of green.

Repose Gray is more of a greige (mix of beige and gray) than a ‘true grey’, with hints of other colors appearing in different lighting conditions. It’s a warmer gray. Buy paint samples to test on the walls before you paint everything. I recommend ordering a Sherwin Williams fan deck to contrast with other popular colors like Agreeable Gray and Mindful Gray. The Sherwin Williams Fan Pack contains thousands of amazing color options. I always use a fan deck to help my clients choose colors.

Repose Gray will brighten up your living space if the walls are currently a darker color. I painted the entire interior of the house with this color. It was previously painted a darker brown and the color change made a huge difference in improving the light and brightening up the rooms.

Repose Gray looks great in any room in the house. A unique color that can be warm or cool depending on the light. I have painted the whole house with this color more than once. To give you an idea of how it looks on the walls, the photos in this article show different rooms that I painted this color.

Repose Gray Coordinating Colors

Before painting the walls, consider the lighting in your home. This color looks warmer and more gray on the walls directly under the ceiling lights. It actually looks bluish in darker rooms exposed to more natural light than artificial light.

This gray pairs well with white or brown trim and looks great with any floor color. In the kitchen, it looks amazing on the walls behind the white painted cabinets. Brushed nickel and black cabinet hardware also look great with this paint color.

Instead of painting all the walls the same color, consider painting an accent wall for contrast. Paint one wall a darker gray to make it stand out from the light gray. I used Sherwin Williams Dorian Gray and Dovetail for the accent walls along with Repose Gray. Dovetail is a lighter gray that looks great on a fireplace wall or TV wall and a lighter gray on surrounding walls.

Real estate agents often recommend either Repose Gray (or Benjamin Moore’s Revere Pewter) when repainting a home for sale. Gray is a popular color choice that most home buyers don’t mind. If you’re selling your home, you can’t go wrong with a single color. The popular Sherwin Williams Agreeable Gray should also be considered. I have used this color several times.

This content is accurate and true to the best of the author’s knowledge and is not a substitute for official, personalized advice from a qualified professional. Repose Gray (Sherwin Williams (SW 7015)) is the perfect warm gray neutral for any room in your home. With subtle green and gray undertones, it looks gray without being cold.

Repose Gray is my favorite neutral gray. This is the perfect throughout-the-house color that works in ANY room, cool or warm. I love it, I used warm gray throughout my house!

If you’re looking for the perfect gray that never reads cold, you’ll love this post. I’ll share all the details you need to know about this paint color, including primer, LRV, comparisons, and lots of photos to help you decide if it’s right for you.

Repose Gray is a bit closer to a warm gray than a true “greige”, but still enough to put me in that category. Thanks to its warmth, it fits in every room in your home, be it the living room, kitchen, bathroom or bedroom.

Colorful Conversations Feat. Pottery Barn

If you want to paint your house gray but are worried that the cold light will cast blue undertones in everything, I think Repose Gray would be perfect for you. It will never look cold gray, which is why it is so versatile.

That’s exactly why I came across it! All the other grays I’ve tried look like baby blue in our kitchen, but this paint color is warm enough to make it look medium gray rather than cool.

If you want to minimize the beige undertone to a cleaner gray, I’d insist on keeping it in the light areas, as the beige (and slightly green tone) really pops in the darker areas. Not that I don’t like it, I actually really like that this gray is not cold.

If you want a warm gray, a cooler gray like Gray Owl or Stonington Gray might be what you’re looking for.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but absolutely nothing is truly gray. All grays have some undertone – whether it’s brown, blue, purple or grey. Of course, some grays are closer to a neutral, “true” gray than others.

Repose Gray is technically a beige/taupe shade with a hint of green. Beige adds warmth, and thanks to gray tones, it can be slightly pink or purple. In darker rooms or especially in shady corners, it can have a slight hint of green.

Don’t worry though! This makes these undertones a unicorn color that works equally well with cool and warm colors in your home! Wow!

If your only experience with warm grays or grays is the famous Benjamin Moore Revere Pewter – you will be surprised how gray Repose Gray is. Revere Pewter can be muddy, while Repose Gray never looks muddy.

This also means it works with many finishes in your home AND is one of the best resale paints.

The photo above was taken right at my front door. Although the lighting here is warmer than in the kitchen, it still has Repose Grey

It’s warm here. In fact, it’s the perfect gray undertone to use in your home because it works regardless of the type of light.

Since Repose Gray works well with both warm and cool colors, any white paint will work well.

Repose Gray By Sherwin Williams

If you want a bright, crisp white, Sherwin Williams Extra White or Benjamin Moore Chantilly Lace are good choices.

For a neutral white, Sherwin Williams Pure White is always a safe bet. If you want a creamier, warmer white, Benjamin Moore Simply White or White Dove are good candidates.

Yes! There aren’t many colors that I can confidently say will work in every room of your home. Since every part of your home gets different light depending on whether the windows face north, south, east or west, a color that works in one room can look terrible in another.

Repose Gray looks great in any exposure! In darker rooms, however, this green underpainting comes to the fore. To compensate, I started lightening the color by 50% and ended up with a PERFECT paint color! The lighter color has less visible green undertones and really works in any room!

To do this, just go to a paint store and ask for “Sherwin Williams Repose Gray 50% Lightened” and they’ll know what you mean.

One color that really fits is this beautiful blue with gray tones (Serious Grey, Sherwin Williams). Something in a gray-blue tone complements it very well! (you can read more about my favorite blue-grey colors here).

If you want to highlight with a similar color but a little darker for contrast, then Dorian Gray provides a nice bold accent color.
