“Our SuperDeck hardwood floors use Sherwin-Williams VinylSafe® color technology to provide our customers with a variety of colors, long-lasting performance and a beautiful finish,” said Sinclair. “In addition, our Cool Feel® technology is compatible with this product. This innovative technology lowers surface temperatures and provides cooling up to 20 degrees F on hot summer days in an exclusive Cool Feel color palette.

“Our semi-hard stains contain rich pigments that allow the natural grain of the wood to shine through. Semi-solids produce a clearer color than semi-transparent without covering all the grain like solids.

Hello friends! Thank you so much for the overwhelming love for our garden makeover reveal. The response has been amazing and we are very happy with our new space…well, we were before a vicious and ungodly heat wave hit our town and it had been over 106 degrees for several weeks. It’s unbearable outside. Needless to say, I can’t wait for it to pass so we can get back to spending time outside. We recently started to feel the heat before finishing the outdoor space during the biggest decorating project of all: painting the deck. Luckily I was able to do this before the real climbers arrived. Today I will share with you the process of how I made this project. .

Restored And Stained My ~10 Year Old Deck

The biggest goal I want for our outdoor space is for it to feel like an extension of our home. I wanted to blur the lines between indoor and outdoor spaces and knew that the color of the deck would contribute greatly to that end result. As beautiful as natural redwood is, I don’t want it to look or feel like a standard hardwood floor. I love the warmth of the parquet color in our home and I hope it will be the same outside.

Because we used redwood, we had to wait several months after construction before applying any kind of stain or protective coating. This allows the wood and oil to dry thoroughly so that it takes up stains better and ensures that the paint washes well. The build was finished in February and we let it dry for 5 months before I painted it in July. If you’re working with wood like pine or Douglas fir, you may not have to wait as long (if at all) before painting. Once I had a plan for how to approach the project, I ordered the stain and materials from Sherwin-Williams.

I used a brush set, roller, metal tray, spray pump, and Sherwin-Williams SuperDeck cleaner and stain remover to complete the project.

As with any painting, great results start with a clean and thoroughly prepared surface. I started by clearing everything off the deck and sweeping. Then I scrubbed it really well. I use SuperDeck Revive Deck and Siding Brightener to clean and clear the deck. This formula is specifically designed for use on new or unstained cedar, redwood, or stressed wood.

How To: Restore A Wood Deck

I got some help with this project because you have to be careful not to let the product dry on the wood during application. Working in small sections, Naomi and I mopped the area and applied SuperDeck Revive with a sprayer.

After use, she scrubbed the area with a polymer bristle brush. Then let it stand
