White Dove is also a little whiter and brighter than Swiss coffee, which makes it a little more versatile. You may have noticed that Karite brightens the Swiss coffee by 25%, making it brighter – maybe even a little lighter than White Dove.

I should point out that for most of the last decade, Garrett’s and my favorite white paint color has simply been Benjamin Moore white. And we still love the slightly creamy, bright white. But for Poplar Cottage, we wanted to try a few more to make sure it was the best choice for this little cottage. That’s why we tested 8 popular white paint colors on our freshly primed walls.

Choosing The Best White Paint Color For Your Kitchen Cabinets
We have always loved warm white in our homes. Warm whites have yellow or peach undertones and usually create a feeling of coziness and comfort. Cool whites usually have blue undertones and often look sterile. I also love how the warm whites look with the copper accents we plan to do throughout the house.
We’re really open to bright white on white this time around. A reader mentioned that all-white can seem too modern for older homes, and I can see where they’re coming from. We’ve always loved BM Simply White in our older homes, but this definitely gives the space a modern sensibility. For Poplar Cottage, I envision a layered, cozy cottage feel to the home, and a warm, slightly off-white can play into that.
I took a few photos on my iPhone so I wanted to show those too as the lighting makes things look a little different.
We’ve had the privilege of looking at these samples for a week now, and Garrett and I like both BM Simply White and BM Swiss Coffee (maybe Simply White for trim and Swiss Coffee for walls…?) If you’ve been around for a while, you know I’m a big fan of white walls. There are four very popular shades of white for walls:
Swiss coffee has really grown in popularity as it’s often used by design professionals, including well-known and beloved designer Shea McGee of Studio McGee (and it looks great in her gorgeous design below). He even used it at 75% capacity in most of his homes. But among these popular white paint colors, Swiss coffee is my least favorite. why It’s all about its shades.
Swiss coffee is considered a warm white because it contains little yellow. For my personal taste, it’s a bit warm and reads more beige than white. I mean, just look at the image from Benjamin Moore’s Swiss Coffee website below. I think a lot of people think it’s more of a beige or off-white color than white. The Swiss coffee in the space above, designed by McGee Studio, looks whiter because of the abundance of natural light coming in through those huge windows! But very few people have that much natural light in their homes. I think it could be a nice decoration with white walls (I love decorating ideas that are not white – this is what we did in our current house).
