Hello everyone! Thank you so much for all the love you have for the home decor show. The response was overwhelming and we are very happy with our new location… Well, this brutally unfair heat has hit our area with temperatures above 106 degrees for the past few weeks. That would be intolerable. Needless to say, I can’t wait until this situation passes and I can spend time outside again. It has been hot as it has been lately, but we are really starting to feel the heat when we finish the outdoor area and paint the roof, which is one of the biggest projects of the entire renovation. The task must be completed. Luckily I was able to finish it before the real beast got here. Today I will share with you the process I went through to work on that project.

My main goal for my outdoor space is to feel like a home extension. I want to really hide the line between inside and outside, and I know how to do it. The color of the ceiling will greatly contribute to the final result. Natural hardwood is great, but we don’t want it to look or feel like a hardwood floor. I love the warmth of wood floors in my home, so I wanted to recreate that outside.

Because we use red wood, we have to wait a few months after the assembly before applying the stain or coat. This allows the wood and oil to dry completely, allowing the stain to penetrate better and create a colorful effect. The work was completed in February and allowed to dry for five months before being painted in July. If you use wood such as oak or Douglas fir, you may not have to wait as long (if at all) before staining. After I came up with a strategy for how to approach this project, I ordered the trash and furniture from Sherwin-Williams.
Brush tools, rollers, metal trays, spray pumps, and Sherwin-Williams Superdeck cleaners and stains were used to complete the project.
As with any painting project, good results start with a clean and well-prepared surface. First, I cleaned everything off the floor and wiped it down. Next, I fully describe it. To clean and sanitize the deck, we used SuperDeck Revive Deck and Siding Brightener. This formula is specifically designed for use on fresh or unpainted cedar, redwood or pressure-treated wood.
I had some help with this project, because I had to be careful not to dry out the wood during application. Naomi and I wet the area in small batches and applied SuperDeck Revive with a sprayer.

After use, she used a poly-bristle brush to scrub the area. Then leave it for 10 minutes and wash it with a high pressure hose.
When things got going, things moved quickly. After cleaning everything, I let it dry overnight. The next morning, the wood looks fresh and new … like new.
With the deck cleaned and ready for staining, I ran another toothpick through and taped the housing where it meets the deck to protect the outside paint.
Finally it was time to color. I chose the SuperDeck Exterior water formula, a semi solid color. When choosing a floor stain, you should consider how often maintenance and refinishing will be required. As a general rule, the darker or darker the room, the less maintenance it will require. Clear coats and light stains require regular maintenance and reapplication, while hard or tough stains can last longer before reapplication is required. SuperDeck is great because it can be used on wet wood.

The SuperDeck stain comes in several color options and I chose the color Chestnut SW 3524. I wanted a deep brown and this color was perfect when I tested the swatches a few months ago. I looked at the small area again.
Now listen…your daughter is afraid to brush her teeth for the first time. How scary. I’ve been saving up for a long time to build a deck, and the last thing God wants to do is kill it. This is a project that requires me to believe in my vision and confidence. First, I dusted the cage with a short roller and then used a 6-inch brush to gently scrub the background to remove the dust. Be sure to use the grain direction of the wood.
There is a bit of a learning curve when working with this stain as it is different from other stains I have used. Simply apply it as you would paint, leave it on the wood for a few minutes, then roll or brush the paint on without wiping it off. It took me a while to get used to it, but once I did it went smoothly. Since we were still trying to beat the heat, we had to move quickly. After the first day, I realized that I preferred to just stick with the brush, so I took out the light brushes (Purdy is my favorite!) and used them for the duration of the project, I used them.
Bro, the next time you have a crazy idea to destroy your deck, please save me from myself! All I can say is taken forever!!! Until I destroy your floor. Yes in hand. the board. It is large and takes longer than expected due to its size. They can also operate for short periods in the morning and evening when the outside temperature is below 90 degrees. It’s best to tackle your coloring project in the spring or fall, when it’s not too hot or too cold. However, check the weather forecast to make sure there is no rain. And don’t even get me started on switching between everything. One. Board

It took a few days, but finally a coat of paint was finished. I want to take my time and aim for the end Slowly, visions are beginning to emerge.
The advantage of water based SuperDeck stains is that they dry quickly and are reversible. Additional coats can be applied after 4 hours, but for a semi-hard finish, we recommend two light coats to get the best results. Depending on the size of your project, this product can help you complete it in as little as one day. Once the second coat was done, I let it dry overnight before putting everything back on the floor.
After about 48 hours, I did a water test to see how well the stain could hold moisture, and it was nice to see the water rise and vibrate immediately.
I think a lot of people are surprised when I tell them that I’m going to stain my floor. That’s because red wood is used in construction, and often, red floors tend to be left in their natural state. Good quality wood that is resistant to decay and natural disasters/all types. If left untreated or untreated, it will turn a warm color over time. Sure, it’s pretty, but the first time I made it I knew I was going to screw it up. I am very happy with the final result. It looks beautiful and creates a resort-like atmosphere.
Stain Color Woodbriar
If you are considering a deck staining project, we definitely recommend Sherwin-Williams SuperDeck products. There is also an oil formula, so I may try that next time I need to stain. I’m one of those weirdos who loves using oil products. Because I like oily products it gives me more control during application. It dries slower than water stains (which can be a turn-off for many people), but you can give it a little if you want to take the time to fix it.
