Multi Level House Plan
Back in the lobby, the main floor is another half flight. From the stairs, a door on the left opens into one of the two bedrooms on this floor. Just ahead, the floor plan opens to a great room. There is no visual division between the kitchen, dining room and living room, making it an ideal layout for those who enjoy casual living and entertaining. The counters are located along two walls of the kitchen, providing ample counter and cabinet space. An island with a dining bar helps create distance between the kitchen and dining room.
Along the back wall of the dining room is a sliding glass door that leads to the patio. The possibilities for outdoor living are limited only by the homeowner’s imagination. A spacious patio or deck extends to outdoor living in nice weather.

During the nation’s economic boom, families tired of cramped ranches and bungalows were inspired by the multi-level Brady House and the versatility it offered. It was the perfect time to improve the layout of the old farmhouse, add space and give it a new and more exciting look.
The multi-level design, considered a more modern and multi-dimensional version of the ranch style, was widespread. It was bigger, cost effective and took up less space than a farm. Families can build a multi-level home on a smaller or sloping lot, a dimension not found in bungalows and ranches. Sometimes these houses are also called multi-level house plans.
“Dividing” the house into multiple levels provided ample space for various family activities and was a very innovative use of interior space. It separates the living/dining room and kitchen (main level) from the living/family room (lower level) and bedroom (upper level).

Remodeling A Split Level House (part 2/2)
As architects and developers met homeowners’ demands for a multi-level plan, two distinct forms emerged: the original multi-level plans and split-level plans.
The main split-level (three-level or four-level with basement) has one level connected to a two-story section. In this plan, the door is on the same floor as the main floor, which includes the foyer, living room/dining room/kitchen. The second level is for bedrooms and bathrooms – usually built above the garage.
The lower third floor has a garage and game room/family room. And then a low “day cellar” with windows slightly above the ground to let in lots of sunlight. Most two-level houses have this design.

Adding On To Your Split Level Home In Maryland Or Washington, Dc
A covered porch with brick pillars welcomes guests to this traditional home. On the first level there is a living room with 10ft ceilings, a kitchen/diner, a pantry and a rear terrace. Three bedrooms are located on the second floor (plan 1602-146).
The two-level design splits the house’s entrance in half between the two floors. A “split entry” foyer leads just off the stairs to the upper or lower level. In this plan, the upper floor has a living/dining room, kitchen, bathroom and several bedrooms – remember that split-levels and split-levels are height variations of single-story homes, so the bedrooms can be on that floor.
The family room/bedroom and additional bedrooms are located downstairs with direct access to the garage. Most two-story buildings do not have basements.

Some people see the television and the “loud noise” it creates as the reason for the need to add more space to the family and separate the various functions – eating, sleeping, socializing, entertaining.
In fact, these two levels were inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright’s prairie style, with low ceilings and open floor plans built close to the ground. Wright’s historic textile block, the Storer Mansion, built in California in 1923, was “America’s first fully developed level.” To accommodate the palace on the sloping site in the Hollywood Hills, Wright moved the floor levels and connected them with half-scales. It was this understanding that influenced later designers and architects to build a multi-level house plan.
Sentimental reasons aside – like a single-level extension – potential homeowners like it because it’s affordable, comfortable, attractive and efficient. If one is interested in building a multi-level home, it doesn’t take much. And the stepped surfaces are compatible with the sloping cultivated surface.
The style offers many possibilities. The outdoor space – perfect for entertaining and family gatherings – is a big plus. The lower level, with its family room and den, could be converted and renovated for other uses—perhaps a guest bedroom or a permanent suite for grown-up children who have returned to the family home.
