You will notice that the product looks a little different than it looks in the product image. I put a bead board on top to make a planter pot.

When I went to the hardware store to buy stains, I asked for a color chart. The sales lady pulled out a chart from another Valspar product and said that they can mix certain colors into the stain. The chart has 25 different options. I chose the “Driftwood” color.

If you look on the website under stains and coverage for One Coat, you will find 63 colors available for “solid” stains.

I’m sure the sales lady is right and you can mix different colors in the dirt, but it seems that the color I chose on the paper is not the color that appears when I open the can.

I’m looking for a neutral color that goes with everything. After all, the outside color of my house is green.

When I first opened the can, I was surprised at how thick the consistency was! No kidding, when I dip the brush in, I feel like I’m slurping jello (maybe a little stretchy, but not horrible).

All of this to say that this is THICK paint. I have to bold it to be a “one coat” color, right?

Runs well and has good coverage. I immediately saw why it only needed one coat.

This is a personal question. In my opinion, you can get away with just one coat of this product.

I was able to get by with one coat of paint on the side of the planter but I applied two coats over the bead board. what? I can just leave one line above and it looks ok? Yes, but there are spots where it looks clean and I want full coverage.

I also know that if it looks sharp now, it will continue to get lighter with time (as with all things).

For one full coat of stain and 2 coats over the beadboard I used 1/2 a can (1 Quart Coat).

I will do a review in about six months to show how this point continues to rise. So far, I give this product two thumbs up!
