Warm Light Paint Colors For Living Room – , may affect your perception. Natural light varies in color and intensity depending on where it comes from. If the beige color that looked great in your previous home now looks pink, or the gray you love looks more purple in the room, it may be because you are comparing rooms with different lighting.
In this article, I will teach you how natural light affects the color of interior colors (also in the northern hemisphere). I’ve also made some suggestions for neutral paint colors that match the lighting of the room. But before we get into the details, let’s go over some important points in choosing interior paint colors…

Foolproof Yellow Paint Colors The Pros Swear By
Rooms with north-facing windows receive cooler, grayer light. Despite the many windows and plenty of sunlight, the light color remains on the cool side. This means that cool colors (blues, greys, greens and some whites) can look colder in a north-facing room. Decorating north-facing rooms with warm colors or even warm neutrals can counteract this cold effect.
Edgecomb Gray HC-173 is a nice gray for homeowners who want more shades of gray without feeling too cold.
Navajo White OC-95 is a light cream paint. In a north-facing room, the blue light offsets the yellow in this paint color, creating a nice balance.
Grant Beige HC-83, a popular color, is a cool shade with a hint of gray. It looks good in a well-lit room facing north.
Sherwin Williams Says These Colors Will Rule Interiors In 2023
Rooms with south-facing windows are filled with warm, yellow light as the afternoon progresses. In the morning hours, these rooms can be shaded, making the colors look a bit odd. If your south-facing room is too bright in the afternoon, a cool or gray tone can help reduce the hot light. The use of warm colors in this space reinforces the visual warmth of the room.
Balanced Beige SW 7037 is a beautiful warm taupe and one of my personal favorites. The mix of gray and brown makes it less toasty than a traditional beige. Works great in a room with lots of afternoon sunlight from south facing windows.
Gray Owl OC-52 is a soft, warm gray, not frosty. Its color will be slightly darker in a room that doesn’t get too much direct sunlight
Ballet White OC-9 is a light, creamy gray that warms up a bit. This color can bring a lot of light and warmth to a space, but can be too neutral in south-facing rooms that don’t get much direct sunlight.
The #1 Secret To Coordinating Warm & Cool Paint Colors
East (and west) facing rooms are more complicated to analyze because the light is less uniform. East-facing rooms have strong and soft light in the morning, which is a bit warm. As the sun rises, the light in the east-facing rooms brightens, and in the south, the paint colors can appear slightly yellow. In the afternoon, rooms with east-facing windows will be a little gray and dark. These spaces work best with warm colors. Cooler sounds can seem a bit dry in the afternoon.
Macadamia SW 6142 is a light-medium shade with a golden beige color that doesn’t fade in the afternoon.
Creamy SW 7012 is one of those off-whites that will look great in an east-facing room. It warms the place without being too yellow.
Techno Gray SW 6170 is a warm shade. This color retains its warmth in the cool afternoon light of an east-facing room with a slight shift in green.

They are weaker in the morning in west-facing rooms. In the afternoon, the light gradually appears warmer and brighter, increasing in intensity during the day. West-facing rooms work well with both cool and warm colors, but remember that afternoon sunlight brings out the strength and depth of warmer tones.
If you have windows on multiple walls, you’re dealing with a lot of light (yay!) Think about which windows let in the most unobstructed light. In general, you should pay more attention to the appearance in the room. The good news is that you will have a little more freedom with your personal color preference.
A room with southwest light has a warm, strong glow that gets more intense in the afternoon, while a room with northeast light gets a cool, gray glow during the day. A room with south-east windows has soft and warm light all day, bright in the morning, a little gloomy in the afternoon, and the intensity of the afternoon sun is moderated by the exposure to the east. North-west facing rooms are cool and gray throughout the day, with only a little warm light in the afternoon.
