This traditional two-story red brick home has beautiful architectural features – it just needed some updated accents to modernize and decorate. Benjamin Moore paint colors provided a new color palette: Revere Pewter for the flooring, Dragon’s Breath for the wood panel stain, and black for the windows. Darker paint on the roof, new wood-look garage door and copper gutters are stylish finishing touches.

We Love These Paint Colors For Brick Houses

This red brick farmhouse style house was built during World War II. A classic found in American neighborhoods built after World War II. Modernizing the front porch with new materials had the biggest impact in bringing it into the 21st century. Our designers also recommended removing the shutters (as they were not the right size) and updating the windows and front door. Wood accents and copper gutters paired with Sherwin Williams Urbane Bronze reduce contrast, creating understated pavement appeal.

This traditional two-story house with a Tudor-influenced façade had a second floor that looked both old and unfinished. For a color-blocked look, we suggested the new Hardie® vertical panel finish in Benjamin Moore Graphite. Revere Pewter trim accentuates the roofline. A new portico above the front door and an elevated walkway direct the eye to the front door.

A few simple updates have brought new life to this beautiful traditional duplex. Benjamin Moore’s Kendall charcoal-painted walls and flooring, windows, gutters, a new double-entry door, and an onyx metal canopy contrast with natural red brick. A roof one shade darker than the original ties everything together.

Another beautiful traditional home that has been facelifted with simple updates. New modern windows with black louvers and a pair of awnings add a modern twist. Also, a gorgeous double front door with matching wood panel accents and copper grooves to highlight the layers of the house. Finally, a bluestone walkway and new front steps keep things intact.

This modern home had a darker red brick that blended well with the wood paneling. We recommend using Woodtone composite wood wall under the front cladding. Black and charcoal gray enter the family with a new roof, modern garage door, exterior lighting, and trim in Benjamin Moore Onyx. Finally, we propose a high-end new James Hardie standard vertical siding, painted in Benjamin Moore’s Rockport Gray.

This gorgeous historic red brick home has been given a fresh look with some deliberate updates. First, we proposed new Marvin windows and a new steel double door. Other black accents include X-style portico railings between existing brick columns and a Bahamian-style grille above the windows to the left of the entrance. Bevolo’s classic copper lighting pays homage to the past. Finally, Tivertino panels modernize the front door from the box to the roofline.

The bright red brick of this traditional mid-century farmhouse contrasts with the clean white accents. It also had a lot to do with the dark tiles, the dark blue front door, and the tumbled gray tile roof. We muted the color palette and suggested that the brick shine. The new metal roof is a stark, warm shade of brown that reveals copper gutters and exterior lighting and a gorgeous new wooden front door. We added interest to the garage because of the gable roof. The trim, shutters, trim and new garage door were done in Benjamin Moore Pale Oak. And the new Hardie® Shingle Siding Rockport Gray illuminates the patio area.

The transition to more modern design space is the new exterior design of this multi-storey house. The red brick is more prominent on this façade as it dominates the cladding of the upper floor. We recommended replacing the old wall with a vertical Hardie® panel wall and painting it and the fireplace with Benjamin Moore Graphite. The trim and louver are rendered in Sherwin Williams Tricorn Black, which goes well with the black family, garage doors, windows and new chimney cap. Wood and copper accents bring natural elements that bring out the warmth of the brick.

As you can see, many traditional red brick homes were originally paired with glossy white siding and trim, a color palette we prefer to drop a few notch shades. For this home, we recommended Benjamin Moore’s Kendall Charcoal for the exterior cladding and Pale Oak for the flooring. The entrance has been completely updated with gorgeous new wooden bi-fold doors, an elegant round and ridged design, lighting fixtures and a new stone walkway and pavers.

We’ve given this large traditional red brick home an exterior with modern touches: new garage doors, updated lighting and a cool front porch. By painting Benjamin Moore’s Winterwood, we offered an idea for the new James Hardie wall surrounding the two-story central bank of windows. The onyx in the dress provides contrast. The warm stone cladding sets the stage for the house and we also used it to surround the fireplace for added interest.

We love the lime wash. This is a great compromise between painting the brick and leaving it natural. The red brick on the underside of this home is painted with Romabio lime painted with Benjamin Moore’s Seapearl. The lime wash gives you the flexibility to allow some of the natural brick color to show, as above. Also works well on brick sidewalks! Here, we’ve combined lemonade with a full range of Benjamin Moore colours: Seapearl again for the siding, Simply White for the upholstery, Sea Haze for the shutters, and black on the new front door.

As you can see in these examples, red brick houses don’t have to look outdated. You also don’t have to paint your brick red if you want, but if you want a more modern appeal. Basically, you can have your cake and eat it too. Our job is to show you how.

During the building permit saga, we continued to research and study different looks and colors to make sure we explored our options…

Exterior House Color Schemes For Every Architectural Style

Vinyl siding was by far the most cost-effective option, and thanks to technological advances, it is no longer your grandma’s siding of years past.

The durability, fade and kink resistance of vinyl siding has been improved and is available in a wide variety of colors and profiles.

The possibilities are endless, from horizontal circle to vertical planks and bars, shakes and semi-circular shingles for a truly custom look!

In the end, we narrowed down our options to Kaycan Mansion or Royal Ironstone siding. Both of these colors are pretty much the same as James Hardie Iron Grey, but are much cheaper as they are made from vinyl rather than fiber cement.

How To Choose The Best Home Exterior Paint Colors

I wanted a true gray, nothing too blue or too brown, and both liner options were just that. Both Ironstone and Kaycan Mansion had lifetime warranties against fading and warping and were available in both wobbling and wear condition. Finally it came to which profiles we liked the most and Royal Estate Vinyl Siding in Ironstone won!

I also love the look of the stone edging in the house, but after speaking to several people who have done this they wished they had saved the money.
