White Paint With Grey Undertone – Happy Wednesday friends! It’s week TWO of the One Room Challenge, and I’m excited to share my progress so far. One of the best things about decorating a bedroom is that there is no major renovation involved (at least not in this case – thank you!). The biggest DIY project on my list was painting the walls. Similarly, painting was no small task due to the size of this room and all the planning went into choosing the best white color for the bedroom. I chose a neutral and cool white color that looks day or night and even covers a second coat! Let’s start!
Until a year ago, I had never painted a room. My dear mother came to visit me, shared all her tips and helped me paint my bathroom. Since then I have slowly been painting all the walls in our house different whites 🙂 I love the clean and simple look of white walls. It’s the perfect blank canvas for any space!

Grey Paint Colours By Benjamin Moore
Anyone will tell you that choosing a paint color depends a lot on your room. The lighting, the size of the space, the direction of the room… there is a lot! Anyway, I think I’ve found the perfect white for the bedrooms 🙂 I used Cameo White from Behr’s Marquee line in two bedrooms on opposite sides of our house, and I love it! It’s white with red undertones that feels cool in low light but still looks bright and fresh during the day.
The best thing about this color is that it covers in one coat! It makes a big difference if you have a big house to deal with. Personally, I like to color – I listen to audio books (especially Harry Potter! Any other Hufflepuffs out there?) or just enjoy the quiet while my kids are sleeping.
Besides our freshly painted white walls, another change you’ll notice here is the curtains. I removed the cheap shutters we had on the windows and hung these linen curtains with my favorite Ikea rods. I still need to get the window coverings on the right side!
This is an area I did not cover in my Week 1 ORC post. Our guest bedroom is spacious and doubles as my husband’s home office. I’m not sure if I’ll be able to handle this corner during the challenge, but logically I’d like to make some changes since it’s the first thing you see when you enter the area!

I’d love to see your progress in another week, so leave me a quick comment below 🙂 XO, Today we’re talking about how to get the perfect white for your home. It’s amazing that there can be so many options for one color. It can be easy to make a decision and feel like you might regret it.
Here you will see our favorite white colors and examples of this type used in beautiful homes. Following our top picks, we’ll show you how to choose which one is best for YOUR HOME.
When you start looking for white, white looks…well…clean. Unless you have it around other white people. Then the white color begins to take on a different color.
Tricks For Choosing The Best White Paint Color
This is because of LOW. Some whites are cool with blue/green undertones and some are warm with yellow/orange undertones. Undertones can get negative publicity. You’ll hear people say “I don’t like white showing yellow”, but the below can help you achieve the look you want. These examples will help you see the difference and have fun choosing the perfect white and low tone for your design style and lighting.
We used Sherwin Williams Alabaster in my mom’s living room. This is our strategy in many projects. It is warm but not like other whites. Alabaster has a slight beige tone. I love how Color Marketing Director Sherwin Williams explains,
I used Pure White in my living room. When I put the swatches on the wall they were very clean and didn’t shock me. I love pure white which looks great with Alabaster. Mom has Alabaster on her walls and Pure White on her cabinets. I used the same color in my new kitchen which I will share soon. They work perfectly together.
KariAnne from @Thistlewood used an extra White in her living room which created the perfect canvas for the bold color palette she created. I used Extra White in my old house and my lighting was great. Sherwin Williams says Extra White is their “true white”. In some lights, it can show a little frost which still looks amazing with many designs.
The Best Sherwin Williams Gray Paint Colors In 2021
I have two beautiful examples of Sherwin Williams Snowbound to show. My friend Mattie of @RusticVivoDesign used Snowbound in her living room. My friend Amber of @TheValeHouse also has Snowbound in her living room. Snowbound is refined white with gray undertones, which means it has a cool look. It is a cool white with no blue undertones. It is used in many different ways.
Stephanie from @BloomingIvyLane used Marshmallow throughout her home. Sherwin Williams Marshmallow is an attractive white color with a slight red tone that gives the whole color warmth and softness. You can see how beautiful this color is in Stephanie’s vintage style home.
Ryan from @TexasForeverFarmhouse used Benjamin Moore Chantilly Lace in his living room and it’s amazing. This is a cold white. It is pure white that is not very fertile. With Chantilly Lace, it’s hard to tell if it’s warm or cool because its undertones are few.
Jessica in the living room at @the.old.barn is Reserved White. To the naked eye, Jessica’s living room looks white, but on closer inspection Reserved White has enough gray tones to appear very light gray. I really like this color. If you have gray in other rooms and want them to change nicely, this is a good option.
The 5 Types Of White Paint Colours: Warm, Cool, True & More!
We used West Highland White in our client Terri’s home. Nice and creamy. I love this color and the European city look. It’s warm but not brown. It looks good with Pure White interior to bring a unique pop.
My friend Angela of @The.Rosewood.Home painted her dining room Simply White by Benjamin Moore. Simply White is another warm white to give a cool feel when going for a bright and airy look. Like many of these other whites, it creates a beautiful look without feeling light. It has a slightly yellow undertone that gives it the right warmth.
Draw a sample on the wall with light in mind. We simply draw samples on the wall in several places to see how they look in each place. Different lighting can also bring out different colors under the white color. Each color attracts some kind of primary color such as blue, green, red, brown and so on.
Natural lighting in your home can make whites and pinks appear red. But the dark area can make the white color look creamy and without pink. That’s why it’s important to sample the color in different areas so you can see how different lighting makes the color look and feel in your own light.
