All house plans are designed to meet building codes for when and where the original house was designed.
In addition to the house plans you request, you may also need a site plan showing where the house will be located on the plot. You may also need rafters that are rated for roof loads specific to your area. Your home builder can usually help you with this. You may also need a septic tank design if your property does not have a sanitary sewer system. Many areas now have specific energy codes that must also be followed. Usually, this involves filling out a simple form that provides documentation that your house plans are compliant.
The Most Popular House Styles Through The Decades
In some regions, you need to take a second step to ensure your house plans comply with local regulations. Some areas in North America have very strict technical requirements. Examples include the earthquake-prone areas of California and the Pacific coast, the hurricane-prone areas of Florida, the Gulf and Carolina coasts, among others. New York, New Jersey, Nevada and parts of Illinois also require an inspection by a local professional. If you are building in these areas, you will likely need to hire a state structural engineer to analyze the design and provide additional drawings and calculations required by your building department. If you are unsure, building authorities usually have a brochure where they give you a list of all the things they have to submit to get planning permission.
Additionally, inventory plans do not have a professional seal attached to them. If required, your building department will only accept a seal from a professional licensed in the state where you plan to build. In this case, you need to send your house plans to a local engineer or architect for review and stamping. Additionally, plans used to build homes in Nevada must be prepared by a licensed Nevada architect. We changed our house plans to the city for our ranch style home in Utah! I hope to start working on the house within the next week or two. We received the sweetest message from someone who knew the previous owners. The wife had died 40 years before the husband, and although he had the opportunity to improve the house, he did not want to change anything that his sweet wife had chosen. We loved the history and plan to honor the house and make it the best we can for our family.

What Is A Raised Ranch?
The wardrobes were very nice, but they were not necessary and we would have preferred a window much more than a wardrobe. I know some may think this is crazy! The more windows, the better in my opinion.
