These Benjamin Moore classics are two of our favorite white paints. In fact, we named Benjamin Moore’s Seapearl the Exterior Paint Color of the Year. Seapearl with an LRV of 77.95 is off-white. Simple White has an LRV of 91.7, so it’s brighter. (Find out what LRV is and why it’s important, especially with white paint.) Different undertones provide subtle contrast while similar colors create a monochromatic color scheme. Simply White (painted on the trim here) provides a warm contrast with the gray tone of Seapearl (painted on the brick).

Alabaster by Sherwin Williams is a good finishing choice. This paint color reads differently depending on its texture, making it suitable for use on a variety of home exteriors. Our designers used Alabaster in the painted brick, trim, and siding on the house above. If you go this route, consider using the stamps in a black paint, such as Sherwin Williams’ Tricorn Black, to add dimension and depth. Tricorn Black was used for the garage door and front door above. Alabaster is not completely white, and Tricorn Black is not very black, so it is not a black-and-white checkerboard combo. This combo of brick and paint provides a modern, understated drama.

This combination of heat, brick texture and paint color brings harmony to your home’s exterior. These paint colors complement each other rather than act as opposites. Olympic Mountains take center stage on the brick, Jockey Hollow Gray adorns the base and fascia, and Simply White accents the trim to complete the look.

A brick house with an orange clay roof will look very fresh and modern if the bricks are made of beige or white. Such a unique roof should be the main element of the exterior design, and the red brick can compete. Another of our designer beige choices is Benjamin Moore’s Grant Beige. In this example, Sherwin Williams’ Urbane Bronze accents provide depth and bridge the gap between the light beige and the full roof color. (Urban Bronze is one of the Sherwin Williams exterior paint colors for 2021, because of its versatility.) Pro tip: Bronze or copper gutters and downspouts look amazing with clay tile roofs and and beige paint.

#5 // Classico Limewash by ROMABIO with Iron Mountain by Benjamin Moore and Nature’s Choice and Porpoise by Sherwin Williams

How To Choose The Best Entry Door Color For Your Brick Home

If you are faced with bricks that have not been drawn, you have the opportunity to try the heel. This beautiful effect gives the house an old, historic feel and still has traces of brickwork. Above, our designers recommended the Classico Calclave by ROMABIO. The warm toned paint complements the warm exposed brick. And this home has many beautiful architectural features that can be accentuated with paint. Here, the designer featured names from Benjamin Moore’s Iron Mountain and Nature’s Choice and Sherwin Williams’ Nature’s Choice.

It doesn’t need our approval, but as our advice so far, it’s a good idea to use Sherwin Williams and Benjamin Moore paints together in one design! Both brands look great when painted on properly prepared bricks. Sea pearls look especially beautiful on bricks. The front bricks appear white and the cracks between the bricks appear gray, giving the built-in dimension. In this home, I painted every non-brick surface with Sherwin Williams’ Iron Ore and painted the trim and accents with Benjamin Moore’s Onyx to provide a rich, deep contrast and emphasize the gray tones of Seapearl.

If you keep a red brick or a natural look, you can give it a sophisticated look with gray trim. It’s one of the best brick and paint color combinations in our book. After all, most bricks naturally have gray and beige stones, and mortar often looks gray from a distance. Painting the piece in Benjamin Moore’s Jockey Hollow Gray brings out these tones.

With minimal paint, the mixed elements act as complements rather than competitors. This home has brick additions, shaker siding, and natural stone. These are all great tools in their own right, but the color palette made them feel overwhelming to the eye. In this case, the right brick and paint color combination can make a difference. By painting the bricks in Benjamin Moore’s neutral Revere Pewter, our designers let the natural details of the stone come to the fore. Iron Mountain sling siding brings more dimension to your home. Note how flat the exterior is in the before and after photos, and emphasize the grays and blues of the stone. The onyx paint on the shutters provides contrast.

It’s always a good idea to sample and test paint colors before committing. Factors such as natural light, low light levels, and building materials have a major impact on how colors appear on the facade. Our friends at Sampleize offer additional 9 x 14.75-inch peel-and-stick swatches of our favorite colors for outdoor use. Order a ‘Real Paint, No Mess’ sample from Sampleize here.

Does this paint combination sound familiar? Same trio as #8 above, but obviously looks very different when paired with plain bricks. Revere Pewter, Iron Mountain, and Onyx are three neutrals that work well together. These paint colors help define the character of the home’s architecture without feeling too busy, even on a light red brick foundation and light stucco.

A simple brick or lime wash is not for everyone. If you’re looking to update your brickwork with a new white color, Alabaster is a great choice. Warm beige tones go well with natural wood. Together with Marvin black windows, this combination completely enhances the look of this home.

Here are a few highlights about brick and paint color combinations that work with how your home looks today. Bricks often look painted in white, beige or gray. Natural bricks go well with warm neutrals. Lighter tones reveal the texture of the bricks, and adding dark gray paint to the shutters and trim creates contrast.
