Sherwin Williams Custom Color Match

Sherwin Williams Custom Color Match – When we first bought the house, the first thing we noticed was how much we loved the living room we walked into. It’s light and airy, with vaulted ceilings, tall windows, hard-baked bamboo floors and the most soothing gray/green color I’ve ever seen.

Depending on the lighting, this room can be gray or green or cream. It is clean and warm. We hope to use the same color in this room when we need a touch up. We tried some custom matching and some commercially available colors, hoping to get one close, and our wall looks like this: 🙁

Later (much, much later), we discovered that the color had been discontinued years ago and a special blend was made at Kelly-Moore. So far we have only used Sherwin-Williams paint in our house because we love Harmony Paint. In short, we started making our own custom mix, which was great because we could quickly test the color on the wall. I was so relieved when we thought about it! We are very grateful to the folks at Kelly Moore who are willing to help us out and provide us with some colors so we can change the colors going forward. Here is the current meeting room:

My Secret Formula For The Best White Paint Color • Vintage Revivals

First, we need to understand the information on the paint label. Especially I want to know die formula/recipe. It’s weird, but I can’t find much info online and will have to ask some paint store employees. I thought I’d do this little post to share what I learned about Kelly-Moore and Sherwin Williams paint labels.

In the upper right corner, the store code, address and phone number of the place where the paint was purchased will be displayed.

On the left, you can see the date the paint was created and two additional line numbers (in the green box below):

Example: 550 finish, it is flat – 222, it is a medium color base – 1Q is 1 liter.

*Note: The color base is important because the same dye interacts with different color bases.

18 – 0580 – 0233 = (last two digits of year) – (code, if custom) – (store code)

Example: The year of manufacture of the paint is 2018 – the specific color code for this paint is 0580 – the store code is 0233.

In the middle, above the barcode, is the name of the paint. If you have a special blend, you should choose a name, or sometimes, a person who helps inspire you.

Colors — Supershed

To the right of the label, the dye system used is indicated. Due to different environmental regulations in your country, paint companies may use different systems to comply. See the green box below.

Below, the color formula or recipe used in this paint is shown. I skip the first line.

B 0Y 12.5000 = (color used) (number of ounces of color) (number of drops of color)

Example: Black (B) color is used here and the amount of color used is zero ounces and 12.5 drops. The color codes I know are:

Can Sherwin Williams Color Match Farrow And Ball?

*Note: Kelly-Moore uses a 48 drop/fluid oz system. You can use this conversion to calculate how much of each color is in your paint. However, keep in mind that there are differences between shops, equipment used and operator handling. We convert this to metric milliliters so we can correct and record the results. If you prefer, 1 fluid oz US. is ~ 29.5735 mL, so one drop of Kelly-Moore dye is (1/48) * 29.5735 = ~ 0.616 mL.

*Note: Our local store told us that 1/8 of a drop (or 0.1250 in the number system above) is a small addition they can add to change the paint, but at least check with the local store. To that extent, store/equipment/operator differences will affect results. If you’re interested, that’s (1/8) * 0.616 ml = ~0.077 ml.

In the upper left corner, the code of the store and the phone number where the paint was purchased are shown. In the right corner, the date and order number will be displayed.

Below, you have information about color. Sherwin-Williams paints are good for writing.

Color And Surfaces

*Note: If you are purchasing a Sherwin-Williams formula, the name is usually the color code after the name (eg, “7558 Medici Ivory”), and the statement “lion-color formula.”

Below, the color formula or recipe used in this paint is shown. See the green box below. I’ll skip the first two lines.

= (Dye System) (Number of Ounces of Dye) (1/32 ounce of die) (1/64 ounce of die) (1/128 ounce of die)

Example: B1-Black dye is used here, and the total number of colors used is zero ounces, 3 of 1/32 of an ounce, 1/64 of an ounce, 1/128 of an ounce. I won’t go into the colorant code, Because the full name will appear on the label.

Understanding Sherwin Williams And Kelly Moore Paint Labels

*Note: Sherwin-Williams uses a fractional fluid oz system. The labeling system refers to parts of an oz, but you can count the above as 32 drops/fluid oz. If you prefer, 1 fluid oz US. is ~ 29.5735 ml, so one drop of Sherwin-Williams dye is (1/32) * 29.5735 = ~ 0.924ml. If you think of it this way, the same example above now:

Example: B1-Black dye is used here and the total amount of dye used is zero ounces, 3 drops, zero half drops, and 1 quarter drop.

You can use this conversion to calculate how much of each color is in your paint. However, keep in mind the differences mentioned above.

*Note: As you can see, the smallest increment you can add here is 1/4 drop, so the smallest increment you can add is 1/4 drop. If you’re interested, that’s (1/4) * 0.924 ml = ~0.231 ml.

As for that little X at the bottom, this is usually where they give themselves a little color.

If you’ve fallen in love with a mysterious color to recreate at Kelly-Moore or Sherwin-Williams, I hope this helps you get a better idea of what and how much dye to use in your paint! So excited for today’s post because for the first time in a year, Sherwin Williams has added 200 new beautiful designer-influenced paint colors to its collection of one coat paint / new exclusive photo priming called Emerald Designer Edition. These colors and paints are now the flagship of Sherwin Williams interior paints.

Before I get into the details, I want you to know that this post is in no way a sponsored post. I’m just a paint geek excited to share with you what I learned while researching this new line for a client project.

Sherwin Williams Sea Salt Paint Color

These 200 new colors are exclusive to the Emerald Designer Edition and cannot be used with other Sherwin Williams paints. This is because the Emerald Designer paint line is made with a completely different “Ultra White Base”, so if you request this particular color for other SW paints, you won’t get the same color as the other white bases are finished. Strange

In a press release for the new collection, Sherwin Williams noted that the new color is based on requests from interior designers who want bright whites, more sophisticated grey/beige and more muted tones. With a light white base, SW is good for achieving that color.

When I first saw the crowd of fans I was blown away as Sherwin Williams clearly tapped into what the designers were looking for in developing this new collection! Each paint color strip is off the chart beautiful!

I have specified several colors for my clients and I wanted to share my favorite colors from the new collection to inspire you.

Hands down at the top of my list is the forged steel SW9565. I can tell you right now, we’re going to be seeing more of this color because it’s so pretty! Ironically, I tried to get a really nice rich charcoal color by custom mixing and I never got it right. Sherwin Williams specified the desired gray/grey/charcoal color mix for the project and it was perfect!

By the way, the other color added in the collage above is from the Forged Steel paint colorway. I’m in love with all these colors in one strip and often work from one strip to make sure all the colors in the space work together (trim, door color, cabinets, walls, etc.).

Forged steel is ideal for moody walls, cabinetry and interior doors. In fact, I use this color for everything throughout the house
