Free Printable Save The Date Cards
Recently engaged and looking for some great yet affordable options to save a date? Also, I was originally going to add a new data saver template to the store, but I decided to make it available for free.

All you have to do is download the template at the bottom of this article, add your custom details, and print in the quantities you need!
The front and back of the 4 x 6 DIY save the date template look like this:
I printed the sample below on this metallic linen paper from Staples. If you plan to purchase paper somewhere other than where your documents will be printed, be sure to contact the print shop beforehand. They may need a label to make sure it works with their printer, or they may just try it out and see if it works. While you can always print at home, having these professionally printed will save you money on ink and, in my opinion, result in cleaner prints.
If you don’t know a local or online print store, you can always take your files to Staples or Office Max to print. I also recommend using cardboard so they are thicker.

These are flat templates, so the text is not editable. However, you can add text to these files using any image editing software, such as Photoshop. I would say that most people who use my projects prefer to use PicMonkey to add text because it’s generally user-friendly. You can add your own text using their fonts, then save and print them again.
I definitely recommend trying it out before downloading any software you’re not used to. You can check out my PicMonkey editing tutorial here .
I used the following paid fonts for this Save the Date, but you can add any font you like to the template.
The scripty font is $36, and the other font usually costs $20, but you can often find it on sale. When adding text to these templates, you have several options:

1. Use any font you want – there are many free options at losttype.com, fontfabric.com and dafont.com. If you use PicMonkey to edit your templates, you can also access some free fonts.
2. Purchase one or two premium fonts and use them for your scrapbook and any other projects you plan to create for your wedding – or any future projects.

These “save the date” cards are folded into quarter-page invitations. This means folding an 8 1/2 piece of paper in half and then folding it in half again to create a party invitation.

You must spread the word! It’s best to send a save-the-date message four to six months before the big day. But if you’re getting married abroad, it’s a good idea to add an extra month, as your guests will have to schedule more work, make sure the children have a place to stay, and they may need to book travel and accommodation.
