Paint Color Converter Behr – In this post, I share the results of a comparison test of both Behr colors with Benjamin Moore paint colors: Chantilly Lace and Simply White. I also included Behr’s Nano White for comparison. We are going to paint the main floor of our house white – boring I know, but the main floor is pretty dark so we thought this would be the best option to finish it all off. Here are some for pictures. There are also three sample photos, one from morning, afternoon and evening, to show how the paint looks in different types of daylight. We had a few things in mind when we discussed it:
Our house is east/west facing with shade from a large tree next to our house which means we get the most sunlight in the morning when the sun rises in the east and it gets quite dark in the afternoon and evening. LRV is a measure of how much light is reflected by the paint on a scale of 0-100. So a pure jet black can have a very low LRV of 2, while a pure white can have an LRV of 95.

Our house has a lot of caramel orange woodwork that is original to the house. That’s why we should choose a paint color that fits well with the interior and doesn’t go too yellow or orange. The interior may feature orange tones in the paint color, but we also didn’t want to go with such a strong blue tone that it would look sterile.

The amount of paint can vary greatly in price, the cheapest and most affordable is Behr, which is sold at Home Depot. Although they do have a Marquee line that is similar to Benjamin Moore’s Aura line. Benjamin Moore and Sherwin Williams are mid-sized brands that have many popular colors among interior designers. There’s also Hamilton-based paint company Digby Paints, priced similarly to Benjamin Moore. And the most expensive option is Farrow and Ball, which is a British luxury brand that offers many highly pigmented historical colors.
Benjamin Moore: Chantilly Lace, Just White & Behr: Nano White Swatches in Morning Light: Behr vs Benjamin Moore
The color combination of Behr and Benjamin Moore is very different from the original, it comes out more yellow and buttery, which I’m not a fan of. Also, if you were looking for an even brighter white than Chantilly Lace, Behr’s Nano White might be a good choice.
In the afternoon light, I can see less difference between Chantilly Lace and Simply White. Nano white is still the coolest. The Behr color combination looks even warmer in the golden afternoon light.
Interior / Exterior Masonry, Stucco, And Brick Satin Paint
Michael and I both love Simply White because it’s a bright white that still has a bit of warmth to it. Chantilly Lace and Nano White were very bright, vibrant whites, but sometimes a little clinical because of their white color – especially Nano White. After this test, I’m a bit disappointed with the Behr color match of the Benjamin Moore shades. I suggest you stick with the original or definitely try a sample before you buy the whole paint.
