Honestly, there wasn’t a big “reveal” about the backyard because it was never actually finished. As soon as one ended, another appeared. I’m hitting moles left, right and center…Anyone involved?
Ever since I moved here, I have always dreamed of having a fun and friendly backyard. It was a place where I could enjoy my stay and felt regret that I had given up something I really wanted. What we managed to remove items The biggest challenge (at least this year) is cleaning the formwork and moldy bricks, but these bricks are actually quite special. It is reclaimed from old Chicago bricks. I kept this in mind when choosing the driveway and garden. Even if it is an “old brick” as my husband says. However, it is more desirable and more expensive than new paving. My husband wants regular paving. But I saw these bricks on Pinterest and had nothing else to do. I finally convinced him that it was worth the money. Because it was so beautiful that I couldn’t decide on anything else.

The beautiful natural surface of the bricks seems to attract beautiful mold. Combined with the Florida humidity, it therefore takes a lot of effort to keep up. The joy I had in guarding that brick and then cleaning it was all mine.
Last year I borrowed a pressure washer from a friend. It certainly works, but I wanted to find a cheaper, less heavy option that I could buy myself. I tried a neighbor’s pressure washer a few weeks ago. I was so impressed that I decided to go to Amazon to buy something similar. I really put it to the test over the past week. And I must say that I passed them all with flying colours.

But hey, that’s pretty boring. Have you ever walked around your driveway to see if anyone is on their way to work? It’s understandable why. It takes a lot of effort to keep up after the initial novelty wears off.
Having already done the driveway and patio twice. If you are a little anxious or afraid of work, we have selected some tips and tricks for you that will make your work a little easier. (Like me in the beginning) I wanted to share a few tips to get you started, aka things I wish someone had told me before I found out the hard way.
Best Walkway Materials
I cannot stress this enough. It is not a good idea to try to remove sand from your eyes. Sunglasses are also allowed. However, you can wear safety glasses. Especially if it’s cloudy and you want to check yourself.
All thanks to my neighbors. When I first started, he walked past me and yelled that I needed to stand up straighter. If you don’t, your back will hurt. Such wisdom! You will feel much better the next day if you maintain proper posture.
Using a bleach-free high pressure water spray, we thoroughly sprayed each section to help remove stains prior to high pressure spraying. It does not take long to apply and helps remove stubborn mold stains.
This task will be much easier for you if you have a repeating rhythm. I cleaned each brick using an “S” pattern, working row by row. It helps you stay focused and ignore everything (and everyone) around you. Once you’re in the zone, you’ll be surprised how effective you become.

I tried to break it down a bit by breaking our work into three parts and condensing it into three days. After pressure washing, my husband sanded each section and added new sand to the joints to replace the sand I sprayed with pressure washing. Teamwork makes dreams come true!
There’s only one job left. Only 500 jobs remain. Just kidding…just a little, but maybe 2020 will be the year of big backyard reveals.
