And the sink was completely dirty! When I wash the dishes, I usually add dishwashing liquid and rinse the sink when I’m done, but the dirt doesn’t come off.

Fortunately, cleaning is easy. Simply wet the entire sink and sprinkle a little Barkeeper’s Friend powder over the entire sink. Dampen the scrubbing sponge and use the side of the scrubbing brush to wipe the sink. For stubborn stains or dark spots, use a little elbow grease to remove the stain. However, 90% of sink “stains” can be removed by gently scrubbing the cleaning powder into the sink using the scrubbing side of the sponge.

It looks brand new too! And the stains on the basin and the scratches around the edges disappeared completely.

How To Clean A White Farmhouse Sink (with Diy Magic Cleaner!)

When we moved into our new home, we discovered that our bathroom needed work. But what we didn’t know in the haze of home buyer happiness was;

The sink, toilet and tub are all original and match old product catalogs probably from the 1910s or 1920s. (Someone told me about these catalogs on Houzz, and they’re cool. Not only are they great for dating old furniture and fixtures and finding replacements, but they’re also a great way to get a glimpse of life in a certain era. .it can be done.)

However, when we moved in we started thinking about what to keep, repair and replace. We wanted to keep as many of the original fixtures as possible to save money and preserve some of the charm of such an old house.

Another thing we decided to keep was the old porcelain sink in the bathroom. In its current state, it reminds me of a prison sink with its hard faucet handles and yellow finish. Oh, and the big bad bad place.

Sink Seems To Be Permanently Stained. How Can I Restore Back To White?

First I tried a 50/50 mixture of water and white vinegar that I saw on several websites on rust stains. No luck there. The dirt was old and stubborn.

Next, I tried a tip I saw in Reader’s Digest and attacked the stain with a lemon dipped in salt. I rubbed a mixture of lemon and salt on the stain, let it sit for a few minutes, then came back and scrubbed with a damp sponge. dirt started coming out

After eating the lemon, I dipped a sponge in CLR that I picked up in the grocery store. The bottle says don’t leave it on for more than 2 minutes, then I wiped the guide, stopped for a while and then applied the sponge. Small spots of rust began to peel off. Yes!

I went back and forth a lot between lemon and CLR and added some really bad spots to the scrub. After about an hour, surprisingly, the place I was working on was completely gone. I don’t think I expected it to go so well!

There are a few places around that still have dirt left, so I plan to come back next week and attack them.

I think if you work a little on some areas and improve the faucet and the handle, it will look like a completely different sink.

Note – If you have a sink with a glossy finish, we strongly recommend trying this method first, as we can confirm that salt scrubs will damage your sink. To do. But if your sink is as dirty as mine, I guess there isn’t enough finish left to worry about 🙂

The Easiest And Best Way To Clean A Porcelain Sink

Last November, my husband and I finished building a house in the country. It’s only 1.5 hectares, so it’s not much. But that’s more space than we had in the city (about 8,000 square feet) and more land than our apartment in California (couldn’t the space be better?).

As part of the movement of our country, we had to make some changes in the management of our home. In fact, we now use septic systems instead of municipal sewers. We had to find new tank cleaners that would fit our house. Seriously, the only thing we used that was found to be safe for cleaning was dish soap (I always like it because the stuff we use is amazing) Thanks a lot.) We had to find new soap, hand soap, detergent, bath detergent, toilet detergent, etc. . .

A new “green” cleaner did the trick. And then I got pregnant and didn’t survive the first trimester. Now that I’m in my second trimester (and I’m doing well), home maintenance is my number one priority. The laundry is weeks away. I am decades away from cleaning my house. And suddenly my “green” cleaners stopped working.
