Ikea Malm White Paint Match – The IKEA Hemnes 8 drawer chest we talked about last week is bigger than I expected. Well, there are a few other things I want to point out about that. But what paint color is white in IKEA Hemnes?
I did some Google searches and the most popular paint match was Acadia White, OC-38 by Benjamin Moore. But I want to see for myself. Acadia White isn’t as close to an IKEA white as I’d hoped, so good I did.

I went to Benjamin Moore, Home Depot, Lowes and collected as many white/neutral colored chips as I could. When the dresser was not in front of me, I saw the shavings of the paint closest to the actual color, so it was surprisingly difficult! Who would have thought that the white from IKEA is not really white but very creamy?

I pulled one of the drawers out of my dresser and started putting paint chips on it, starting with Benjamin Moore Paint Chips.
Above you can see that Benjamin Moore’s Acadia White is okay, but not great.
And if you hold the color swatch up to your dresser drawer (pictured far right), you can compare it to the closest match, Clear Moon PWN-30, which I think is the closest of any of the shades. by Benjamin Moore.
The closest thing to Valspar is 7002-8, and of all the paint company’s colors, it’s the winner, but still, it’s not a banger.

Then I remembered that all these hardware stores do color matching! I don’t know why I didn’t think of that!?

If you don’t have actual IKEA Hemnes furniture and are just trying to replicate the look, one of these will work. Don’t waste time looking for a matching paint color. I usually remove the drawers, shelves or legs from the piece of furniture and take them to your local hardware store or wherever paint is sold because you can customize the colors.
