Ranch Style House Floor Plans – The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence. We’ve all heard this saying, and while it can be a pathetic mentality (never being satisfied with what we have), I’ll admit that I think so sometimes too. It’s not that I’m a jealous person in general or that I feel cheated by life. It’s just that there are some things I wish I had…but I’m not. For example, if I were to make a list, my top three green vegetables would probably be: 1) Hair 2) Six-pack abs 3) Farmhouse.
Well… some things may be easier to find than others. So with that said, let’s take a look at number 3 on our list…a farmhouse. At this point, some of you may be wondering… what does that mean? Is he looking for a home on the ranch? Or does it mean only one storey building? To be honest… I mean both. I’d love to live in a barn, but it’s probably never going to happen anytime soon (like six-pack abs or hair), I’d rather live in a one-story house… aka a farm… or a rambler… or a houseman-level master .

Now, there is nothing wrong with having a house with more than one level. In fact, here at Advanced House Plans, we offer a wide variety of beautiful 1-1/2 and 2 story house plans. Even with two levels, our 1-1/2 story home plan has a master bedroom upstairs with a secondary bedroom on the main floor. But some of us like the idea of being completely on one level.

Farmhouse projects have always been popular, but their popularity seems to be steadily increasing in the last few years. It all comes down to practicality and knee joint problems. Yes, the absence of stairs in a ranch floor plan means less wear and tear for its occupants – and as the baby boomer generation ages, more and more single-story homes are in demand. But even smaller families want the benefits and convenience of single-story living. In a one-story home, it’s easier to keep in touch with your little ones or control erratic kids.
Additionally, the single-level floor plan allows for ample separation between the master and secondary bedrooms if desired. Great rooms or family rooms often serve as central spaces, with rooms on opposite sides. Kitchen areas, of course, are often open to these main living areas and serve as gathering centers for family and friends. All this… without taking a single step, not even a single step. A beautiful way to live I would say.
Also, for years it was believed that a good farmhouse plant can only be planted in a spacious area. Of course, some ranch floor plans are really wide or deep, but with today’s smart design techniques, it’s easy to find well-designed single-story house plans that live well. High ceilings, an abundance of natural light, and wide, expansive views from every living space also make small single-story homes feel more open and airy than the traditional, sprawling farmhouses of the past.
After describing the advantages of stair-free living, I would be remiss to point out the fact that a lower level (yes… access via stairs) can significantly expand the living space of a farmhouse. Family rooms, fitness areas, home theaters, and hobby spaces are just a few options that a finished floor plan can provide. What’s more, with high ceilings, large windows and exit options, the lower level no longer feels like a “basement.”

An inverted mirror set is a printout of your home, as a result of which you will see whether or not you hold the design to the mirror. Everything, including the text, is reversed from the original drawing. This type of drawing is usually used to rearrange the original plan in a more advantageous way on the site, either because the owner chooses it that way or because of site limitations. Note: Reverse mirror sets are only available with 5-copy or 8-copy sets. With reproducible, PDF or CAD sets, you can print mirror copies locally. Also: Select 5 copy sets only allow selection of 4 mirror sets. 8 copy sets are selected, only 7 mirror sets should be allowed to be selected.
Unless you purchase an “unlimited” blueprint set or a multi-use license, you can only build one house from one blueprint set. Please call to confirm if you plan to build more than once. Plan licenses are non-transferable and cannot be resold.
