Sherwin Williams Exterior White Trim – So how do you choose a white exterior color for your home? With many whites choosing, the decision can be difficult.
I don’t think you want to use a really bright white, especially on the outside of your house. Doing this will make your house blind to looking at full sunlight.

The right way is to choose an off-white or an off-white color that is a little more creamy. It will not be unattractive and will make your home softer and more pleasant.
The Best White Paint: Sherwin Williams First Star
As you know, we are building the system and now we are trying to decide on the overall exterior color scheme. It is a very difficult decision, but we have to make it well. Since most of the building will be white brick, it will all depend on the shade of white we choose!
Despite its name, Sherwin Williams Pure White is not really pure. There’s just a touch of heat, but it’s not creamy. It might be a bright white color that I would use on the outside of the house.
Oyster White by Sherwin Williams is a really warm white. You could almost call it a very light greige. If you plan to use wood tones in your exterior, it complements it well.
Like White White, don’t let the name fool you. Benjamin Moore Simply White is a warm white. It has a subtle yellow undertone and as a side note, it was Benjamin Moore’s Color of the Year 2016.
Sherwin Williams Extra White Review
Benjamin Moore White Dove is a soft white with a gray undertone. It only has a “white” border if you don’t want a cream border outside your home. Dove white is very popular and seems to be a color that many designers use.
Update: We recently completed a renovation and decided to use White Dove on the exterior. We were very pleased with how it turned out. I think it might be the white exterior color.
If you’re looking for a white exterior color that isn’t too bright or creamy, Sherwin Williams Snowbound is a great color. There is just a hint of neutral gray. It may be warmer than white white, but nowhere near as warm as Oyster White or Alabaster.
We actually used Snowbound around our house a few years ago. I remember loving how soft it was.

Benjamin Moore China White is another warm grayish white. I’ve heard people say it’s dirty, but I think they’re mostly talking about indoor use. But I think it’s good on the outside where you don’t want bright white.
If you’re looking for a creamy white with a hint of yellow, Sherwin Williams’ White Duck is just the thing. The combination of ointment and cream is really perfect. You will find it here in this beautiful building near the Garden Gate.
Update: We used Sherwin Williams White Duck on the outside of our house and couldn’t be happier with our choice! It has a soft finish and is perfect for sun exposure and is not too creamy. But on cloudy or rainy days, a cream color appears. Below is a picture of our house from the outside.
Another neutral white that is neither yellow nor gray is a natural choice. Compared to White Duck, it seems to be on the creamier side. This is an example of Natural Choices in a home by Dixon Kirby Homes. We are excited to announce that we have selected exterior colors for our new home. It was a big decision for us, like for everyone else. Let’s face it, building a home is full of decisions. If Henry hadn’t taken me and all our wonderful followers, I would have been in big trouble. Decisions are hard for me!
Best Exterior White Paint Schemes
So, drum roll please… We decided to go with Sherwin Williams White Duck! Not only was this color a hit with our audience, we loved it from the start. Of course, we want to be 100% sure that we went through the process to get here.
Our first step is to reduce the background color to three options. We know we want white, but not too white and not too creamy.
After much research, we found three contenders: White Duck by Sherwin Williams, Natural Choice, and Oyster White.
After we narrowed it down to three, we did a test. I highly recommend experimenting with brick and mortar paint yourself. This will allow you to see what color your brick will look like in real life.

After putting three colors on the cube, we can get feedback from others, including our Instagram followers. This is a fun way to get everyone involved. When we first shared it on Instagram, White Duck really won. And to help you make our final decision, we went to the audience again to see it in brick.
We feel like Natural Selection, it’s a little more interesting. The White Mushroom is really close to the White Duck, but we think it’s a bit lighter.
With a lot of help from inspirational photos (especially the house below from Farmhouse), our followers, and a good test, we finally made up our minds! We should have gone with our instincts from the beginning, but we wanted to be sure. After all, it will be an expensive change if, after painting the whole house, we find that we don’t like it.
We fell in love with the white duck from the beginning and over time we became more lovers. Now that our house is finished and we have time to see the colors at different times of the day and in different lights, we are glad we made this decision. How To Choose The Right Exterior Paint Colors
We’ve been looking for a painted white brick house for three years and we’re finally taking the plunge! For the past few weeks we’ve been experimenting with different shades of white and asking my friends on IG [HERE] to find a color (for us!). We want it to be a full, creamy, warm white that can be found in nature, as opposed to a white that is cool or light. White is strong, guys! We walked around the house looking at examples.yewverrr but finally decided! Here are the 5 exterior white colors we tested, what we found out about each, and the final choice for our home!
Sherwin Williams Alabaster is my favorite white to use in a room because it is a neutral white and seems to have warm accents. Not too yellow, not too creamy… just right. It is bright white with an LRV (light reflectance value) of 82, so it will reflect light through the lens. We can’t recommend it enough indoors to bring light into a space, but keep in mind that it’s a bright white for outdoors where a lot of light moves around.
White Oyster is darker than Alabaster, but like cream. It has a lower LRV than Alabaster, so it reads more like a light beige, not too light. We saw hints of green/gray in some lights and really liked the color saturation. If you want to rely on a beautiful white, Oyster will be a good choice!
The natural choice is another warm white cream with a bright color of 73 and therefore similar in brightness to Oyster. It’s also not as white as Alabaster, so if you’re looking for a rich, flawless white, this is a great choice! We noticed that the tone of Natural Choice is neutral and neutral with a beige tone or a bit of peach under the white tone and does not rely on a cool or green / gray color in the sun. This color actually sounds like the white you would find in nature instead of wearing too much or too cool.
Why We Chose Sherwin Williams White Duck For Our Exterior Paint Color
Shoji White was one of my first favorites because it has a slightly pink tone, almost shell-like, and it’s white. It’s a brilliant cream, off-white with an LRV of 74, though oddly it looks like Alabaster. I would love to use this in the bedroom and use pink and white with a nice peach tone to bring out the shade even more. of course
