When it comes to greige and taupe, it will always be a responsibility. Like taxes, death and empty wine bottles, they are unavoidable.
Benjamin Moore Paint Colors Inspired By An Historic Home Near Me
Oscillation between black and beige sits a beautiful color called GREIGE. Some nuts are grayish white, making them look cold, while others lean towards warm beige, making them look cold. In terms of work, greige prefers green and rarely resembles violet.
In the light, it is very easy to see greiges and MINIMAL. But once you get to the dark end of things, they tend to take on a little Green, which means there are fewer griges that make the cut because they often read ‘green’ instead of ‘neutral’.
Like greige, taupe is somewhere between black and beige and can be warm or cool depending on the combination. But unlike green-based greige, taupe has a violet (sometimes violet-pink) hue and rarely turns green.
Even in the light, taupe does not hide its role for those who feel violet and pink. However, since taupe is dark, you will see it pick up more VIOLET and BROWN.

I really like Kingport Gray. Why? Well, as far as Benjamin Moore goes, it’s so INTENSE, that I’d almost call taupe NOT FRESH! However, with uncertainty comes opportunity that may turn a little greener. Why? You ask a lot of questions – I love you. Since there is little commitment to a specific color scheme, you will most likely switch to another depending on exposure, environment, sensitivity, etc…
Now you might be wondering about the DARKER look of Fairview Taupe sitting on top of Kingsport Gray on the fan. Although it may have taupe in its name and is obviously a purple color, it also depends on beige, to the point where it loses all gray-beige in the mix and looks good. This is what we talked about before, how taupes tend to be more purple and/or purple as they are darker.
No, we’re not talking about my morning breath, we’re talking about Dragon’s Breath (like, really). Dragon Spirit is green with green tones. Now if you’ve done your research and looked at Sherwin William rugs, this may sound familiar – and it should. Dragon Spirit is a cousin of Sherwin Williams Urbane Bronze, however, Dragon Spirit is a little warmer and much softer.

Dragon Spirit has an LRV of 7, making it a SUPER dark option for exteriors, interior doors, cabinets and feature walls.

In my consultations, the NDA usually mentions Dragon Spirit unless the client only mentions Benjamin Moore paint. Why? I found Urbane Bronze to be a BIT better in its own way as I kept getting points throughout (unlike me, Nothing is hidden when I have points to make).
Star is a beautiful taupe with just a wink of warm violet. With LRV 23, Stardust has an extreme temperature without diving into the dark side.
And while Sherwin Williams usually goes for a darker taupe, Stardust is actually less flattering (very undertone) than many of my favorite Sherwin Williams pieces.

The Most Recommended Blush Pink Paint
Rockport Gray is a popular green. Not only is the LRV 35 easy to hang on walls, cabinets and outdoors, but green is so easy some people don’t even know it’s there!

Although Tao Taupe is described as a taupe because of its violet color, with a reduced temperature it can easily be mistaken for gray. However, compare it to a warm gray color like Benjamin Moore Metropolis and you see a change.
Taos Taupe is in the same vein as Stardust and LRV 42, giving it depth for a variety of complexions without washing out or looking too heavy.
Best Greige Paint Colors

Gargoyle picks up where Dragon Spirit left off but with a softer tone. With a 17th LRV, the Gargoyle still has HEAVY meat on its bones without the impressive height of the Dragon Spirit.
Two names, one color. Actually, there are three names for this color – Shenandoah Taupe. Thank you, Benjamin Moore, for confusing your customers.
But whatever you call it, this beautiful color is taupe with a LOT…always. Ashley Gray has the LRV 32, which places it well in the middle of the mid-length range and is easy to point in a variety of positions, from outside and inside to inside.
Top Selling Benjamin Moore Paint Colors
In the photo above, notice the transition from the shade of Ashley Gray to the soft green of River Reflection – this shows taupe and greige at their best!
Copley Gray sits above Rockport Gray in the fan chamber and comes with an LRV LOWV of 24. However, while Rockport Gray does not have much green, Copley Gray is lean and also takes on a touch of richness/warmth.
If you are looking for a lamp, Benjamin Moore Edgecomb Green is a TOP choice. But when you get to the dark end of greige and taupe, nothing CLEARLY wins, although I will say that Benjamin Moore Rockport Gray is the most popular and the most suitable because it relates to exteriors, feature walls, cabinets and all rooms.
