When looking for a particular paint color, I always like to start with the best sellers because there is a good reason why some colors become best sellers. If you’re looking for a beautiful and reliable color, this list is a good starting point as you begin your paint color search.
Although I have worked with most of the colors on the list, I want to break the list down further and highlight twelve colors based on my many years of experience in the color/design consulting business. For each color I’ve highlighted, I share the pros and cons of a color to help you get a better color feel. We hope this list helps you the next time you’re looking for the right color.

The Best Neutral Wall Colors In 2022
Sherwin Williams Repose Gray is the most popular paint color in the world today across all paint companies. We’ll never know for sure because we don’t have that information, but I’d be surprised if Repose isn’t number one right now. Repose is a great light gray that I highly recommend to my clients because I think it’s as close to perfect as you can get when it comes to whole house colors and neutral lighting.
Man: I especially like Repose because not only does it look beautiful during the day, but it’s also a rare color that looks beautiful at night when the lights are on. No ugly shadows and lots of usability

Most Popular Benjamin Moore Sherwin Williams Paint Colors
Soon, sea salt was one of the most common dyes on plants. When I asked readers on The Creativity Exchange Facebook page what their favorite paint color was, they overwhelmingly voted for Sherwin Williams Sea Salt. If you’ve just used sea salt and want a calm and relaxing spa color, you really need look no further than sea salt.
Advantages: In the right lighting, sea salt is one of the most beautiful shades of green / blue / gray and calm.
Cons: Sea salt is a chameleon color and can fade in certain light (usually when there is a lot of natural light). It is very important to try this color first. This color looks best in spaces with little or no natural light (bathrooms, bedrooms, etc.).

Best Home Decor Paint Colors: Sherwin Williams Sea Salt
Worldly Gray is another reliable light neutral gray that is close to Repose Grey, but a little warmer and a little darker. Recently, I have introduced this color to many customers who have a whole house color with a lot of natural light, because Repose can look white in a lot of natural light.
Disadvantages: Universal gray will look darker in natural low light areas and may look heavier / darker than traditional light gray.
Interestingly, crushed ice is a new color for me, and the irony is that I used it in my living room because Repose is lighter than I want in the space. I really like it and recommend it. Crushed ice is slightly lighter, cooler, and slightly more pigmented than Repose Grey.
Male: Crushed ice is a pale light gray that lies between light and medium. They are hard to find among the transitional neutral colors.
Best Bedroom Paint Color Ideas (2022)
Cons: Crushed ice looks better in places with natural light. It is not suitable for bathroom, laundry, etc.
This is a snowflake on the wall in my living room, and for reference this place has a large window.
My friend Julie used crushed ice in her great room in a new house under construction and I love how it turned out. Amazingly, there is a lot of natural light in the space below.
Dorian Gray is another warm neutral gray that I would say is a medium shade. I used it on a client’s air vent and it turned out great. Dorian also has a nice neutral cabinet color.
New Sherwin Williams Designer Influenced Paint Colors!
Pros: Dorian is in the same color group as Repose Grey, but only two shades darker. Color scheme for walls and cabinets.
Cons: Too much natural light can make Dorian cooler instead of warm gray.
If you’re looking for something darker than a warm neutral gray, Dovetail is a great color. Perfect for interior doors and cabinets. I’m afraid it might be too dark for the color of the whole room, but it would also be good for the accent walls.
Advantages: Dovetail is the safest color to use if you want to contrast a space (for example, on an interior door) without darkness.
Find & Explore Colors And Stain Colors By Sherwin Williams
A few of my clients have been asking for a bit of neutral advice lately, and I really like the Drift of Mist because it’s a soft color that I think is very neutral.
Pros: Drift of Mist is a rare color that can be used when you don’t want white but you want more colors.
Cons: There is a small hint of yellow that hides (very weak). I’m not a fan of yellow, but a soft yellow, I think to soften this color to a more neutral white so that I can use it at my house.
I wasn’t surprised to see Sherwin Williams Peppercorn on the best seller list because this color is incredible! It’s a dark gray with lots of depth and is perfect for accent walls, cabinets and small spaces like a small powder room. This is what I saw last year at the SLC Parade of Homes.
Most Popular And Bestselling Sherwin Williams Paint Colors
Pros: Pepper is one of the most reliable colors for darker moods. It always looks good when used on cabinet walls and accent walls.
Even darker, Sherwin Williams Iron Ore is an all-star color and a beautiful dark gray with a hint of brown that has become a popular color for interior doors, cabinets and exterior trim. Really beautiful colors!
Pros: Iron ore is a wonderfully emotional color filled with depth. Iron ore provides a direct contrast to the small amount used.
Cons: Sample the iron on the outside to ensure that the following colors complement the White body color as well. On the inside, this is not a big deal, but outside the light just pulls the subtitle.
The Best Sherwin Williams Colors For Large Homes
Like Iron Ore there is another great dark color on the bestseller list and its Black Fox. Where the iron is dark gray, the Black Fox is dark brown.
Pros: A color full of dark emotions, it’s a great color for wall cabinets and exterior decoration. Very different.
For my client, black is Sherwin Williams Tricorn Black. I think black is the best because even though it’s almost black, brown / gray helps soften the color Black, so it’s not as cruel / horrible.
Pros: colorful and reliable indoors and outdoors. If you are looking for a great black color I would start here because it is a beautiful color.
My Top 5 Sherwin Williams Neutral Paint Colors And Why I Specify Them
Cons: I can’t really think of any problems with this color. Reliable and shades of gray / brown that work well with almost any color when used as an exterior decoration / accent.
I have been using Mindful Gray for many years in the client area and in my own home. I think Mindful Gray is one of the most beautiful and reliable warm grays and I use it especially for closets.
Pros: Versatile warm gray that looks best on cabinets and exteriors. A little heavier for a warm gray as a wall color, but still good if you’re looking for a half-toned gray wall color.
Cons: Gray in mind can be cool in spaces with a lot of natural light, but still beautiful. However, if you have a lot of natural light and are looking for a warm gray
