Joanna Gaines Farmhouse Paint Colors – Weekly Design Challenge Newbies: In this weekly blog post, I decided to show different design challenges that have been requested by fans, customers and friends. I will send a design board or actual photos with product descriptions and give creative ideas on how to create the look.
This week’s challenge is how to get that “fixer upper” attitude. A friend recently told me “I love the way Joanna Gaines dresses on the show Fixer Upper, but I don’t know where to start to look like her.”

There is no denying that Joanna has her style. When I think of “fixer upper” styles, I’m drawn to farmhouse, French, industrial, and cottage styles. Joe has a unique way of using simple and fresh design to create timeless designs. She has a special gift for turning old things into new and beautiful accessories.

1. Start with a neutral palette with bright colors. She uses neutral colors for many of Joanna’s designs and brings in bright colors with pops here and there. This will give your design a simple, fresh and clean look. Here are some paint colors that are perfect for the “fixer upper” style.
2. Mix your ingredients and fabric. Joanna uses a variety of materials and tools – wood, metal, leather, textiles and more. Hardwood floors are almost always a trend for decorating high-end homes. Wood materials help make your space warm and inviting. But don’t stop there…. the fabric is made of high quality fabric like jute. You can also bring the warmth of wood with wooden furniture. The picture below is a good example of how Joe combines different things.
3. Use art and unexpected things as a decorative centerpiece. Whether it’s a large door behind your bed or an old window above your fireplace. This is my favorite of Joe’s designs. I love to see how he uses different architectural and industrial elements in his designs. Such items can be found at fairs and antique stores. You won’t find these unique pieces in your home decor store. Hunting for valuables is half the fun.
4. Use green. Nothing says clean and fresh like a vase of flowers or greenery. These are not necessarily living plants. Hobby Lobby has a large selection of greens perfect for the “fixer upper” style.

5. Declutter and find new uses for what you already have. All of Joe’s designs look simple and fresh. It’s not messy or fancy—almost everything has a useful purpose. Sometimes less.
“Fixer Upper” status is not something you can achieve overnight. Even Joe does it on the show. But he spent many hours before entering the “making day”. This process takes time and develops over time. Like Joanna Gaines. If you look back at some of his early designs, you will see how far he has come as a designer. But starting with these first five steps will put you on the right path to your Fixer Up! Hello guys! I’m excited to share our top home improvement project today… NEW LOOSE!!! 7 years in our house this week! It’s time to stop procrastinating and paint – we’re very happy with the results! Fortunately, since we moved in July 2012, we haven’t had to do much in the way of renovations. Last year we redid our bedroom/bathroom with new paint and new furniture, and we upgraded our yard with a playground and patio paver.
This summer Ryan and I wanted to do something and we agreed to collaborate on a picture. The walls look old and weak with age. Our whole house is a beige/taupe color…but this color doesn’t matter because it has so much in our house…it’s boring and dated…and the living room is dark and green. Go! A contractor told us how much everything would cost (because… kids!)… he told us $3,200, including labor and supplies… so! … we decided – we think we will do it. save money we do it ourselves! Talk about exercise!
We started this project thinking it would last the whole summer…we didn’t rush to finish it (because it’s 7 years late!). We are proud to have completed this project in a few weeks and painted ours beautifully
Joanna Gaines Reveals Her Top Paint Colors For 2018
Ground Floor… Foyer/Hallway (Upstair Corridor), Family Room, Kitchen, Dining Room, Lounge, Bathroom. Thanks to paint, wet brushes, tape and ladders, we realized that when we ran out of all our paint…we were inspired.
Choosing a color for our basement was a difficult task! Do all the letters match? How many letters are too many? Although I heard that you can paint the interior of the house only one color… I wanted to mix things up a bit! I started looking for paint ideas on Pinterest, reading blog posts, both by Chip & Joanna Gaines, and making many trips to different paint stores. As a wife, mother and party planner who loves to entertain… I love the color palette and furniture that goes with our home to feel cozy, inviting and relaxing. I was on a quest to find a color palette that was calm and soothing. The pressure is to find a neutral and timeless blue / green / gray to give our home a fresh and airy look! After combining all the colors and testing wall samples, we decided on a Sherwin Williams paint color for the top. We renovated the entire floor, redid the picture frames, and reupholstered the furniture…the house is so much bigger now…it’s like a new house!
I went back and forth with gray for the foyer, family room, and upstairs! I’m not exaggerating, I compared a dozen lamps on the wall before I made my decision. I wanted a classic, gray without being too flashy… Repose Gray is one of Sherwin Williams’ best selling colors. Although Repose Gray is not gray…it is a classic “greige” color (a combination of gray and beige)…it is a very warm gray. I love the look of hardwood. Many homeowners will paint their entire home this color before putting it on the market because it is neutral and can be used in any space. The SW website is very helpful in providing a variety of tools to gather inspiration for a room, find and look at colors with a visual tool, and you can take photos of your home and put them in. put different colors on the walls. We are excited to have Repose Grey!! It makes every room brighter, brighter and brighter.
Now here’s my favorite part…showing before pictures (left) and after pictures (right)!! Hopefully, this home improvement guide will inspire you to add a new color to the walls of your home. Time to plan a dinner party to show off this house! 🙂
